I was just thinking. At 20, I'm probably one of the babies of the board in terms of age. (And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I hold my own against the more mature people here as far as my views on the issues go). And I know of people here who probably range into their late 50's and 60's. (And I certainly don't think of anyone here as outdated). In fact, at no time have I ever even given the age of a poster a second thought. I mean, I just would not know unless you told me or gave away an obvious clue like musical taste or hobbies and interests.

My question is, if you didn't know how old the people on this board were, would you be able to tell that they were older or younger than you? In my opinion, age is totally irrelivant at Literotica.

Sometimes, but not always. I find that age give-aways have a lot to do with the topic under discussion. There are some ways of seeing things that do come with age and experience.

I think people'd be able to tell my age.. At least the couple dozen people who helped me lose my virginity. *LOL*

As a general rule, no, I don't think about the poeple here in terms of ages. I would suppose you would consider me one of the babies at 23, but I would say the only time that would show would be when we discuss our taste/likes and dislikes of certain items. I think often with music and recollections of the "good old days" we tend to date ourselves.

In a witty and highly intellectual BB such as this I'm not sure that age even plays a role.

I agree with Simply Southern...'sides, on a BB such as this, people pay more attention to the validity of your ideas rather than your chronological age...

*reads all of these twentysomethings being afraid they're the 'babies' of the board, and points out she's 18 by a couple months*

Can't wait to hit the magic number of...

You thought it would be 18, but then I wouldn't be able to post here. No, I want 20. Kind of sick of being classifed as a teenager.

Also good to know I'm not the youngest. Thanks Endlessly! ;)

It's nice to hear different opinions from people of all different ages. I think I learn something new about the world (and myself) everyday just from hearing about the "older" peoples opinions. I think age only makes us wiser. So, in a way, it's important, but for now, I don't mind being "unwise".

:)

Damn, do I feel old now!
I am 34.

I also tend to believe that age is largely irrelevant on this BB. There are so many intelligent, wacky, opinionated and generally fun people, age is seemingly insignificant. I have friends IRL and here of all ages.

And here I thought I was one of the babies of the board at the ripe ol' age of 23...just goes to show ya...

Well I don't happen to think that age means a whole lot, it's more about who you are as a person, and what you know.

You can be 18 and very mature, or you can be 25 and still inmature, it all depends on what you have experience in your life.

At least that is my humble opinion.

ShyGuy

PS. I'm 31 myself

Age doesn't matter

Hey, you are as young as you feel, so they say! Being 41 years of age, in no way makes me feel old! Hell, I am happy to report, I don't even look that age! Thank God for that! I get along great with people of all ages, and what I really find fasinating is young teens always want to talk to me...So, I guess 41 can't be all that bad... Kat :)

Move over, Katarina dear. Got you beat by four years...<hears Wizard chuckling in the background>

Hugs Kat. And I thought you were shy?

What amazes me about this whole site, and has since I've first been coming here is the level of maturity, wit and sometimes wisdom. If age had never been mentioned here, I would have imagined most of you as much older. Mostly from your responses.

Endlessly, until I saw you post your age recently, I assumed you were in your late 20s or early 30s. And that goes for a lot of you 'younguns':D I guess Literotica just attracts the best and brightest.

I wonder what the average age is of most of the regulars that come here? And I just mean anyone that posts more than one or two times and then leaves.

All you younguns are making me feel old.

From the decrepit old age of 50 years and 49 weeks, all of this folderol about age and maturity from you young whipersnappers is depressing.

I do know that there are a couple of posters that are older than I. Tinman is (I think) the grand old man, but one of the ladies holds the title of oldest poster.

Age generally doesn't matter to me as I read the posts. I worry more about the content than the poster.

Endlessly

at 18 by a couple of months... and you registered half a year ago?

A spanking I think

I'm now ripe and old at 21..... not that it matters

"Age is irrelevant, so long as you are alive!"

Yes, Endlessly, you're always there to let people think 'At least I'm not that young.'
Thank you. Thank you.

Don't worry about it, Jennifer. I'm 47, and haven't gotten there yet.

Age is in your mindset. I read erotic stories (thanks Laurel & Manu), tell dirty jokes, leer at ladies with a tasteful lack of coverage in the summer and even try to write with the intent to arouse. I even enjoy watching animation (a more mature form of cartoons). Most people at work guess my age as a few years younger (thank God) and my wife still wants me to grow up from time to time.

Yeah, I turned 40 this year and thank you Kat, Wierd Harold, Magic Merlin, Wizard and Creamy Lady as well as all the others out there for letting me know that I'm not the only "dirty old" one here (though I don't think anything dirty is going on here).

Enjoy life and be how you want to be.

I've never taken into account the age of a poster...I agree with Weird Harold...it's the content of the post that gets my attention. I've seen crap written by 'elders' and I've seen great pearls of wisdom from the mouth of babes. I know when I write I sometimes try and sound older and more mature than I am (25). But now knowing the ages of a lot of the other posters is going to change my thinking on that.
Thanks for the paradigm shift!

I agree. I think that age is irrelevant. I don't even really take it into consideration if the posts are well thought out (and most posts I've seen here are).

For those of you wondering, I'm the ripe young age of 22, but I don't know when I'm gonna grow up. Hopefully, never.

I'm no youngster at 45. It seems to me that there are a lot of college age members on the Board, and that is agood thing. Hopefully some of these people will stick around for a long time and bring a sense of continuity to our little community.

Most posts don't give me a lot of age revealing clues, but that's probably just me being obtuse.

hee hee hee

31 here.... no big deal, I guess. Middle of the road, so it seems.

I think it is really cool that we get along so well and have such a sense of community despite the vast age difference between us. Shows that common ground can bring any group of peoples together.

35 here....haven't had a chance to read posts (i just got back online). But I wanted to let my presence by known. Hopefully, I will be able to get back over here a little more often.

*sheepish smile*

Most of the people here know this-- they don't condone it I'm sure, ESPECIALLY not Laurel-- but they know it.

When I first did 'the song' as an audio story for this site.. I was not old enough to legally listen to it. Nor was I old enough to read my own poetry.. I registered at the tender age of 17, and was mocked as the board's first uncloseted virgin, and no one really thought much of it until I announced I was turning 18 in a few days. *trying to remember* I think I was barely legal, maybe by one or two days, when I won Erotic Poem of the Year.

Was still a virgin however. :D

It's a moot point now though.. Except I feel more than a little guilty for actions which might have gotten Laurel in trouble.

As far as not seeming my age.. My pastor tells me constantly that I'm 'eighteen going on 200.' :)
