Now, I know I don't have to say this, because we all know that it's illegal for anyone under 18 to view pornography, but I'll say it anyway, just to refresh everyone's memory.

From the Literotica Disclaimer, which you agree to by entering Literotica, as stated on the front page of the site:

If you are under 18 (in some countries or regions 21) years of age and/or if it is illegal to view erotic material in your community, please leave now.

I'm not being a dick. This is THE LAW. The presence of underage persons can get Literotica shut down. Imagine how pissed everyone (including myself) will be when this fine free site is gone because some underager gets caught here. And it happens - law enforcement officials LOVE to shut down adult sites. This means the whole site - the chat, the BB, the stories, the pics, ALL of Literotica.

Capiche? Don't get me wrong - I've been a teenager. But I have to follow the law or this site will go bye-bye. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. :)

I love the fact that Lit is a member of the RSACi, (I think that's the correct term) which means basicly that I can click on my settings on my desktop and put a lock on this site and keep my 16 year old (or anyone else, for that matter) from seeing it without the password... and for this, Laurel, I thank you. I swear to God, you would NOT believe some of the sites I have checked out by going into "history" and seeing all the adult sites that my 16 year old has somehow found... Literotica is totally tame by comparason! Whenever I have questioned him about this, though, he claims that 9 out of 10 of the sites just pop up whenever he goes to check out only one - and this I can believe! As someone with very little computer knowledge, I'd like to know why ALL adult sites aren't forced to register with RSACi? It only makes sense... it seems like it would assure that adult sites would stay just that, "adult", and the government would stay off everyones' backs that way. Anyone care to add a comment to this?

Laurel, EOD I have to agree 110%

It's really not worth losing a site as Brilliant as this just because you get people that can't wait that little extra time to post.

I mean come-on just think how many people would be effected if this site was closed. Just stop and think before you do these things.

Laurel and Manu work hard to keep this site what it is and they don't need to go through the hassles of worrying if their site is going to be closed down.

That's one of a million proposals that's been made. It actually isn't a law - and in fact the .xxx extension doesn't exist yet. The problem with that proposal is deciding who determines what's porn and what's not. What governing group? What country? Is a sex education site porn? Is a women's resource that mentions facts about childbirth with pictures, porn? In some countries, a bikini pic is pornography.

And after that's decided, how do you keep the "porn" on the .xxx extension? Most of the "problem" adult webmasters - the ones who pop a gazillion consoles that crash your browser, the ones who spam nonadult terms to search engines so when you search for Disney movies you get hardcore XXX action - are from other countries. Many are from parts of Russia in which they'd be very hard to locate and even harder to prosecute. These, E_o_D, are probably the people popping all that weird quasilegal stuff for your kid.

Then there's the argument that it would be easier for parents to block .xxx domains (assuming, of course, you could somehow get the adult stuff - whatever that's defined as - confined to .xxx), but if all adult webmasters subscribed to RSACi and Cybersitter and all parents installed blocking software, there'd be no issue. That's the solution in my book - parents be parents to their kids, and adults have the freedom to choose their entertainment.

Rotten.com is a trip.

Effective August 1 2001
All sites that deal with hardcore pornography or anything that is abnormal (i.e http://www.rotten.com) will have to change from http://www.gaymaleorgys.com
to http://www.gaymaleorgys.XXX
the reason it hasnt happend yet is because there is no way that all the sites could have changed over since the law went to effect in January so the XXX replacement will not be in effect for a year and a half

HEY , I'm 33 going on 12 can I stay? I have so much fun here.

Guys I really should do this ... where on the desktop settings is this RSACI thingy?

If you're using Internet Explorer 5, then it's on the tools menu under internet options on the content tab.

You can also block specific sites by assigning them to the restricted zone in the securities tab.

I am young... but of age... pretty sure in all countries even!

I don't know what I would do if you shut down Laurel!
AHh the mere thought... (knocking on wood right now!)
