New Virginia porn law

A new law just took effect here in Virginia, so now everyone has to prove they're 18+ before they can visit websites with porn videos and pictures. You have to take a picture of your driver's license or something and send it to each site, every time you visit. Other states will surely follow suit. It's a big inconvenience, so 18+ people won't look at smut as often, and the industry will lose a lot of revenue. I guess Literotica is exempt from that law, even though it's just as immoral as Pornhub.

Opera browser incorporates a free VPN, it's a bit slow for movies but works fine otherwise. It defeats most countries regulations on residency requirements before being allowed to view certain sites (including news).

Immoral? What is that supposed to mean?

If this becomes an issue I will just get a VPN

I see a lot of boys snatching their daddy's driver's license while they're sleeping lol
As a Virginia resident, I was bummed that Pornhub disabled their site for the state, but there are plenty of other sites that are still operating without age verification (might happen later) Pornhub and Xhamster are the only ones that I'm aware of who have implemented it.

Scanning my driver's license and uploading it to Pornhub? What could go wrong?
I guess Literotica is different because they don't show explicit images.

I'm sure that sooner or later someone will take it to court as it's against one's freedom of speech and invasion of privacy.

Larry Flint won his case.

Everyone's definition of porn is different and what one does in their own home shouldn't be subject to others whims. That's how a lot of sodomy laws got overturned.

Louisiana has a similar law that took effect last year. It’s in court now.

It's one thing a porn site knowing your IP address it's a different thing being able to link your fetishes with your actual name and address. How long before some politician demands the names of everyone into incest porn etc?

So, the hysterical Religious Right continues on their tirade... First it was outlawing abortion, even in the case of rape or incest...Next it was removing "naughty" books from school libraries--including, in a couple of states, making it a criminal offense for the librarian to check out any of said books...and now this.
A couple of noteworthy points, just for the record. First, the church ladies wandering through libraries removing books are removing the same books their predecessors did when I was in school (Lolita, Catcher in the Rye, Slaughterhouse 5, etc.)--and, like their predecessors, they have never read the books. Second, it apparently hasn't occurred to them that you can read any book ever written on your phone or laptop. Finally, many porn sites are hosted in other countries, where the U.S. government has no jurisdiction, so a law made by our government requiring us to show ID would probably be ineffectual. Finally, I bend over and fart in the direction of the Religious Right. Mind you, I hate the Left just as much. End of political rant.

Stupid as stupid goes…. “More laws, less justice” ( Cicero)

It has got nothing to do with porn. It's to do with control. When the Iron Curtain is finished establishing itself again the people in the west will be on the wrong side this time around.

AI will take care of sorting and filing all fetishes and with names and addresses...

Think again idiot, the Democrats control the Virginia Senate so it could not have passed without them.
Fact not fiction.

That would only incriminate themselves and half of the Catholic Priesthood, so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
