Age Question

I would say 65, mental decline is a natural occurrence as is lower levels of energy in general. But my opinion doesn't matter because it won't happen in my lifetime.

I do like the idea of political experience for the Presidency though. Running a business or a corporation is not the same thing as leading a
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC; or what is supposed to be, anyway, not an oligarchy.

You would be excluding some very exceptional individuals with boatloads of wisdom, institutional knowledge, and relationships built over a lifetime.

65 in the age of modern medicine is a bit young for a hard cap at the upper end, imho. 75 seems like a solid cutoff, and I’m using President Biden as a reference. He really was quite effective until he approached the end of his term. From 75-79 President Biden was the right man for the moment with his combination of wisdom, institutional knowledge, and relationships (which really served him well when passing legislation and working with NATO to marshal the defense of Ukraine, etc.

Maybe. There's also elder statesmen, ambassador, and advisory roles.

Having said that my above post is simply an opinion and one I knew would not be popular and won't happen anyway.

Like doing away with the oligarchy.

I won't be back.

Peace.

A simple question asked. Either yes you agree, or no you don’t. It isn’t about any party. It isn’t about sitting officials. It what we want moving forward. My opinion on this won’t change, but it is mine to make just as yours is to make.

Maybe it would suit the officials if they followed the official pension age?

Again, I am not going to pretend that I know the American system (it seems that not even the Americans know it themselves).
But in Denmark we have the official pension age (which is increasing as we live longer) and depending on which year you are born, the official "folkepension" starts when you turn 67-70 years.

So having a minister that is above that age.. that just feels wrong.

As an example, in 2011 the average age of the ministers in the Danish government was 41 years.
And they did well.

There are many pros and cons when we talk about age, but something the older generation lacks might be: energy, drive, good health, being less jaded, and so on.

I agree with the age issue, but more importantly, since even a person in their 60s could have issues, our members of Congress should recognize and admit when there is an issue and act as a buffer, rather than as an enabler, out of fear of losing their coveted job.
