Same here. I learned the basics of Italian cooking from my best friend's mom, who was off-the-boat Italian from Calabria. Marcella filled in some gaps and led me on to want to learn even more.

I'm going to celebrate Marcella's ascension to the great cucina in the sky by making some Bolognese meat sauce to her recipe - no garlic, no oregano, and five hours of very slow cooking.
