Hi ho everyone!

So as I get older I know my body is changing, hormones mostly have been the issue, but I've also noticed something new to our after play recovery.

The first time it happened I just thought it was because we hadn't played in a while, and we went at it hard.

Anyway, the past few times we've played (and we play hard), once I start coming out of that happy subspace, I get very cold. Even wrapping in blankets doesn't seem to warm me for a good while. This last time I even shivered and shook. We usually wrap me up, and once I'm fully in my right head, I eat something, and shortly after that I seem to be back to normal.

I'm guessing that this is some sort of shock. My question is, what should we be doing about it in after care? And what danger is it for me to be going into shock every time we play?

This is probably a drop in blood sugar. I suggest seeing a doctor and having some blood work done just to be safe. After you eat you start to feel better, so I think this could be the cause. When you're playing you're releasing adrenaline, endorphins and cortisol (and whatever else the body needs). These all heighten your senses and can cause the "sub space" feeling. This forces your body to go into "super human" mode and gets the blood flowing where it's needed, reduces the pain you feel and gets you into a heightened state for survival. This state depletes your glucose at the same time. So when you come down you experience a drop. Heart rate, blood pressure and glucose plummet and you're left shaking. I suggest keeping a snack on hand for afterwards. Easily digestible carbs can help like crackers or pretzels.

Wenchie sighting!

I have nothing to offer on your question, just wanted to say hi.

Hi!

Denny

I'm not a doctor and rarely play one on the internet.

My suggestion is do what MeekMe wrote. At least see your family doctor for a check up. Life is to precious and fragile to screw up.

Honestly this could be it. I have been hypoglycemic most of my life. When I first started playing, something similar happened and I just used to keep peanut butter on hand all of the time. Then I started eating better and treating my body better, and they hypoglycemia seemed to go away. But I did notice a few months ago that I was having pancreatitis symptoms, so it's not that surprising the hypoglycemia would flare up too. And in all honesty, I've been eating like shit.

Just kind of worried me to have it pop up so suddenly

Hi!

I was happy to see the Captains wench too. :)

Hey guys!

Life's been very crazy. Glad to see people recognize me. :D

If this has never happened to you before, I'd definitely see a doctor to rule out anything more serious. Do you experience these sort of chills at other times, too?

That being said, I personally usually do get quite cold after I'm coming down from subspace. We take a hot shower together afterwards most times, as part of the aftercare, and it really helps. Then I make sure to stay hydrated and get something to eat.

All the best!

If I get the chills after play, it's typically the first indicator that I'm going into sub-drop. Coming down from the endorphin rush. Aftercare-- a blankie, something sweet to drink often helps... Some intimate winding down time with my BF...

Just my experience... :)
