So I am a male, and I have a hairy back. It bothers me and makes me very self-conscious about myself. I have tried Nair it works great but I need help with it. Have tried shaving and it works well. I have tried waxing at home with an ex-girlfriend, which was super painful, I have a super sensitive back and I couldn't handle it, but loved how smooth I was and lasted for awhile. Is there different types of waxing or things I can do to make it not so painful?

So if anyone male or female has advice or things they do, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

You might want to look into sugaring.

I've never had it done, so I can't tell you anything about cost (if you have it done professionally) and pain thresholds vs standard waxing. But most articles I've read claim that it's much less painful. YMMV

Daily deal sites like Groupon and Living Social frequently have great deals on short-term hair removal (waxing, sugaring, etc.) and even laser removal, which might be a good option for you.

Home waxing can be SUPER painful in the hands of someone who doesn't know what they're doing, or even if you simply use the wrong product for your skin and hair type. Before you vow to never get waxed again, I'd suggest going to a very good professional waxer at least 3 times. The first time or two will be the most painful, but it shouldn't be too awful, especially if you take some ibuprofen an hour or so beforehand. It'll be less painful the more you wax or sugar, and over time, the hair will grow back thinner and finer.

But if laser is an option for you, put your money into that instead of waxing. Join the deal sites, and when an amazing laser deal comes along, jump on it. I saw one the other day for like 5 laser treatments on a "large" area like the back for a couple hundred bucks, which is an incredible savings.

If you want to go the depilatory route by yourself instead of waxing or while you're waiting for a laser deal, you can get a long-handled lotion applicator (they're designed for people who have limited mobility and aren't expensive at all) as well as some sort of sponge on a long handle. I think they also have formulas that don't require any rubbing or scraping when the time is up, so all you have to do is apply it, wait and wash it off in the shower.

Wow that is a good deal. I paid like 800 for 8 sessions on, ummm, my small area
