Dear friends

I posted a story and it was rejected. The reason sited was misplaced quotation marks.

I was a bit upset because I had went over the piece so many times and felt that the story was in pretty good shape, so I posted my tale of woe here and re-submitted the story.

Then I got an email from an editor that had helped me in the past, and he offered to look at the story. The resulting edit made the story better and I was going to withdraw my submission and submit the new improved version. Imagine my surprise when I found that the story was already posted.

How can I replace the old with the new?
Should I wait until it has had its run on the ‘new’ list and then replace it or should I try to replace it now?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Mike

Post the story as if it is new, but when you title it, use SAME TITLE EDIT. Should be replaced within a couple of days.

It would be interesting to see a couple of paragraphs of the original that was rejected for misplaced quotes--to see if the difference was British-style quote punctuation rather than American.

It is up now in the new stories

I am going to do as FB says and post the new version, but it will take a couple of days.

sr, the site has never been as anally retentive as you.

US, Brit and Aus punctuation has been accepted since the beginning of Lit. If it reads OK, they publish.

I don't think the bar is as high as you want it to be.
