advice on a story idea

I read a thread on the "how to forum" which has my mind going in places I never thought it could. It's a short thread, but needs to be read in full to understand the questions I'm posing.

1. If I decided to write the story, would I need to receive permission from the OP because this thought never occured to me before?

2. Do I have to follow his instructions or can I make them up as I go.

3. When completed, would the work fall into the celebrity, horror, or humor category?

4. Serious question, do I owe the OP an apology?

5. Can laughter cause a heart attack?

6. Deliver the next chapter to your Plagiarism series and leave this for idea for dead.

Story ideas aren't legally protected (nor are there many, if any, new story ideas left untapped). Just try to do your own thing with the idea.

In answer to your questions:

1) No. It's your thought; your take on the presumed true scenario.

2) Make up your own instructions: copying his would be plagarisim.

3) Sounds humorous to me, althoughsome people get turned on by some really weird shit.

4) No, not really. He put it out there for discussion.

5) Yep, but don't worry about it. A dude in the UK was watching a comedy show on TV and laughed so hard he died of a heart attack. His wife said she was sad, but at least he died happy. :D

"Chocolate George! You know I'm allergic to chocolate!"

"Yes, dear, I know..."

I "picked up" an idea back in February from a guy in the story ideas section looking to write a story about twins. All he had was "Twins,18 named Paul and Dawn-his name was Paul BTW I am betting he has a sis named Dawn out there-and oh once he saved her life. That was it.

I was getting stressed working on my series so told him I would give it a shot and I would give him a simple "shout out" in my authors note. Based on an idea from Lit Member so and so. He was fine with it but I did stress that it was mine to do with what I pleased.

Back in April I tweaked it more and published it as an e-book. I checked with someone first and they said it was mine and he could never say anything down the line.

If you are interested in seeing it it is on my stories page "Anniversary to remember. Thing is I have to edit it because a friend said he would do chpater 2 so we billed it as a 2 parter and he never delivered and I had no interest in taking it further one of those things I just keep meaning to gte to is to edit out the ch 1 and the note saying to watch for ch. 2

That wasn't a story idea you were given by the February man. It didn't include enough of a story hook to be a story idea.

Then I guess I did okay then making something out of nothing. I did use the names he provided however and he also gave me an extremely vague physical description (tall and brunette).

On another note a funny comment on the story. I said they were twins and early in the story to establish age of consent I said her 18th birthday was last month. Some one asked me when his was. Really you can't make these things up.
