I think it's a fetish. Used to be an ad constantly running in the singles column of a local paper here (this was years ago) for a guy wanting a guy. He said, "Shinny braces are cute!". I sooo wanted to write to him and the paper and tell them to correct the typo but I never did.

That being said, I had a steady BF almost the entire time I had my braces so the fetish issue never came up for me. He didn't mind my braces and I didn't mind his hearing aids.
