"ADULT" Sites - thread by request.

If you have qualms about content other than outright porn and pedo content - in my opinion - you should have the SAME qualms about having porno adverts for all to see flashing on your pages.

Leaving LIT out of it, how many agree? (and have the guts to admit it)

If you mean for instance banning stories with animals, but allowing graphic advertisements for sites where you can find it, I have to agree with you. That would be hypocritical.

Otherwise, I don't give a hoot what kind of advertisements there are. The only thing that gets me mad is blatant pictures without me having a chance to say no, thank you.

:D

To my knowledge there is still no firm law regarding what you can and cannot write in a piece of fiction, erotic or otherwise... Fictional depiction being the operative rule... try to say it's a true story and you've got all manner of shit flying at you... keep it fantasy and they can't touch you for it legally speaking.

Literotica has firm rules based around the 18 yr old minimum, and as far as I'm concerned they're perfectly right to do so, it's their site, their choice... it has no foundation in law but, hey that's what Laurel wants, so that's what it is.

I have no desire to publish any works depicting sex between minors or betwen minors and adults... neither do I wish to have the family pet involved... I doubt I'll ever write about binding the misses with rope and beating the shit out of her...

What does annoy me just a tad though is being unable to write a complete story occasionally... the age rule is too inflexible on here at times, in that if I dared write that Mr & Mrs Smith had three kids, aged 6, 9, & 12, bang you're a paedophile, whether the kids are anywhere near the sexually explicit bits of the story or not... I can agree with banning under 18's from the dirty bits, but you're on a hiding if you dare mention that any one in the world is under 18 it seems at times...My only gripe really though.

Large 'story' sites with high hits can do 'very nicely, thank you', on having plain ads for writing related commodities, and 'AMAZON' adverts, etc. without touching porn. (I only average around 3-4,000 hits daily and aint got any complaints) It depends how 'hungry' you are as to how your principles stand up - and how big a hypocrit you are or are not .

I have to say again, that I agree in principle ; however, the older I've gotten and the more responsibility I've acquired, the more grey area I'm willing to see. I admire TV a lot, especially now that I've learned more about her in this thread. It's just that I've only just gotten a job that pays enough to make my monthly mortgage, after a 3 year drought. I've had some awful jobs in the meantime, and most of my loved ones have tried to convince me to sell my house, move somewhere cheap and try to start over. My son lives nearby with his Mother, who is well off and able to send him to college, thank god.

I'm not trying to make you all cry me a river, I'm just trying to add a little perspective.

Ideally, we'd all make choices that alligned with our principles and live happily in harmony with ourselves. Unfortunately, there are often tradeoffs we choose to make between principles, sacrificing one we deem less important for one we hold more dear.

Yes, we all know we are hypocrites. Anyone who doesn't think so has never had to love someone unconditionally.

Considering the present Administration, the only agreed-upon age for legal consensual sex would probably be 35.

Forget policing the world, we are now fathering the world. Now go to your room and wash that junk off your face young lady!

Hey! We seem to be on the same wavelength, BT

Stick with it HUCK. One thing about being down and in the shit is it's great to get out of it by your own efforts. (Hell - I'm not 20 yet, and talkng like a sage  ) Sincere best of luck to you  :rose:

True. Sadly - too often it is 'Worship of the (not so) 'Almighty Dollar' - my point on hypocracy :D .

I agree with the first part. I agree that 'Laura' - he/she/they decide the criteria and we like it or lump it. I'm also in agreement with your non-desire to write about the things you state (though I do not consider a married 17 year-old a minor.) I'm also in agreement with believing the rules a tad inflexible (rigidly 18 plus.) More so in view of the sanction of blatant porn advertising open to any child surfer .

I also think that 'Laura' coudn't give a shit what we think - so long as we provide the stories to draw in the surfers and help keep the revenue flowing :D :D :D
