I am talking to a friend about belly dance and I keep getting ads on gmail for BellyFlabIsUgly.com. I feel insulted. Should I like, click them a lot and make them go away?

That is avtually good. Teh worse is when they are trying to convert me to something. I wonder which posts do *that*

If you click on them, adsene will just make more money. Unfortunately, unlike Trolls, the ads won't go away if ignored, but they will get more intrusive if you encourage them.

Yes, but AdSense gets rich because the belly flab guy pays.

Yes, I know it is ugly! Here we are trying to encourage each other and feel good about ourselves the way we are, and what?

It is as if you were having a private conversation in your living room and a huge pop up ad hit you in the chin!

Yes, I know it is ugly. I just am not going to make it my life's mission to get rid of it.

If you're running Firefox, get the AdBlock add on. There's also some free stand alone pop-up add blockers.

Sounds like you have some adware/malware. Install it, update it and then run it. Shut down and then bring your computer back up in safemode and run it again. It'll clean out a whole mess of little critters you don't want.

Yes, that Adblock is wonderful.

And it changes the entire gmail page. All of a sudden there is all of this free space.

And get firefox, IE iaccounts for around 60% of all security problems in Windoze and should never be used.

I kinda miss adsense now! I'd be talking to writers about plot details, and the ads that google would place were hysterical, sometimes. It felt like having a four-year-old listening to my conversation, and trying to be part of it...

I use Norton Internet Security. It eats 2/3 of the computer, but does the trick. AdSense is something I can turn off, fortunately. But as Stella pointed out, it can be fun too, despite calling me fat.
