I have been told I have a very addictive personality im a chocoholic a nymphamaniac and I've been labeled a binge alcoholic. Has anyone else got any addictions?

I own a 4th edition OED.

I am extremely jealous. I have a 1955 Unabridged Websters. Well, unabridged then. I don't have a good OED yet, just a flimsy paperback. Someday... Ah, I can almost smell the fresh paper and ink smell of a really good dictionary.

This month's purchases are going to be an Italian to english dictionary, the english to italian dictionary, and a chinese character dictionary.

OOoooooooooh, a 4th ed OED. Did you see the Discovery channel special on the OED?

Nope. But i've been lusting after my very own OED for, gods, maybe 20 years. Finally got one as a very extravagant bday present a few years ago and i *love* it. (And it's the 2nd edition, too, not the 4th; my fingers weren't behaving when they put that in. Bad fingers. I'll have to take the teeny little flogger to them for that...)

I don't use it every day, of course, the thing is 20 vols and you gotta really want to know the origin of a word to go looking for it, but i *love* having it. I can often be found in a corner fondling the pages of Volume V (Dvandva-Follis; including, of course, "erotica") and cackling.

The StudMuffin was going to buy me one, deluded darling that he is. He went to the bookstore with 15 bucks (how much can one dictionary cost, right?). He came back looking shell shocked. He said no way in hell would he buy me a dictionary that took up that many volumes when an encylopedia was just as good. He's buying me one for christmas this year.

Wow . . . only now do I truly realize what a geek I am. I am addicted to Coca-Cola, which I suppose isn't so unreasonable, but it gets worse. I am also addicted to The History Channel and Ring Pops. I think I would be content for the rest of my life to sit down and watch The History Channel while sucking on a blue raspberry Ring Pop.
