(This is my first time trying to roleplay here, so forgive me if I figure out the rules as I go along! Let me know if you want to roleplay through this story with me. I don't care what gender the writer is, but if I'm going to mostly offer my wife's reactions - because that way I can keep them consistent to her personality - then the other writer would probably mostly be writing the male perspective.)

Ida was a bit nervous about the audition and shivered in her short dress in the alley outside the theatre. At 35, she was an experienced actress, but this play sounded a bit different from the usual shows she did. The casting notice underlined that there was a lot of "intimacy" in the production, stage language for sexual content, but it hadn't given many details. Still, the show had a good budget, was at an excellent theatre in London, and everything seemed to be legit. The director had a great reputation, but was also known for being very daring. Her husband, Jon, was supportive, encouraging her to give it a shot and see how it went. He was always telling her how hot she was, and never felt intimidated when guys noticed her.
Ida was a brave actress and loved a challenge, but was pretty shy about showing herself off, tending to dress modestly and downplay her incredible
figure.
Ida was a striking woman to see in the alley outside the stage door. She was relatively tall and her short black hair was curly and seemed to bounce as she walked anywhere. When you gazed into her eyes, they held both blues and greens and you could see the creativity ooze out of them, and her pretty mouth seemed made for sex. Her body was compact except for her large 34D breasts and a tight but round ass that seemed to be trying to counter act the displacement caused by her those large orbs. Her breasts somehow managed to stay firm, perky, and bouncy despite their size, with just enough jiggle to attract attention, though she never seemed to notice.
She was wearing a cute red dress that had short sleeves, a V cut in the neck that hinted at just enough cleavage to draw your eye and ended at mid-thigh above where her fingertips could touch. It was a shorter dress than she was really comfortable wearing, but she figured she needed to show off her body a little bit. She paired a pair of black tights with the dress and a cute pair of black Mary-Janes for shoes.
Ida’s alabaster white skin stood in contrast to the red brick of the old theatre. Her beautiful Snow White face shone as she stood there and looked around at the other hopefuls who were all standing there walking around and quietly talking to each other. Many of the women were younger than her and that concerned her. Why would they choose a woman in her mid 30’s when they could have a young 20-year-old?
Ida was one of those women who have no idea how beautiful and sexy they are, no matter how many times they're told. She nervously paced in the alley, waiting to be called in.

"Ida? Come in, we're ready for you."
It's knocking on for four o'clock and it feels like we've wasted a whole day auditioning wannabe actresses - no, that's not quite fair - actresses who would like to portray a woman of allure, a woman who is aware of the sexual aura that she carries with her. Yes they're pretty, yes they can speak clearly, yes they can move on the stage but none of them have that 'Come up and see me sometime' dangerous sexiness that Mae West had in spades.
Hey ho, this last one and then I'm off for a drink - several drinks in fact and with the feeling that we'll have to go through the whole process again tomorrow.
I sit down between the play's author and next to me is Lyn the wardrobe mistress. If we can find an alluring woman she's going to dress her to kill.
"OK..." I glance down at my clipboard ..."Ida?"
And a miracle has happened. On the stage in front of us, nailed to the spot by a single light, is a woman who for all the world is saying with her eyes 'Why don't you come up and see me sometime' and I sit open mouthed waiting, just waiting until Lyn's elbow catches me in the ribs.
"John, she's waiting." she whispers.
I clear my throat.
"Er yes miss" I glance at my clipboard again "miss ... Ida. Can you give us the line that's on your audition notes er the one that starts 'I'm not usually attracted to men like you'. When you're ready."

Ida smiles, and she has one of those smiles which lights up a room. You'd never know she was nervous as hell about presenting herself as a sex object - or maybe there was a glimpse of internal conflict in her eyes, a desire for the job and for approval fighting against her natural shyness.

The audience is dark, with the stage lighting facing her, so Ida can't get a good look at the director or whoever else might be watching.

Ida finds a point in the audience just over the head of the director and places her imaginary scene partner there. She looks him in his imaginary eyes and says, with a demure sexiness, "I'm not usually attracted to men like you, but I don't know - I guess there's something animal about it, the idea that you could do anything you wanted to me, and so there's a part of me that just tells me not to fight it." Then Ida nervously and slowly starts to lift the hem of her dress an inch or two, holding eye contact with her imaginary scene partner.

She abruptly breaks character, gives a little bow - her cleavage showing off the promise of an incredible pair of breasts - and another beaming smile and says "thank you!"
 
I lean over to the author.
"What do you think, have we got her?"
Ruby smiles at me.
"Well she's got you darling." she says patting my knee.
I turn to Lyn.
"OK for you?" She's sitting staring at the cleavage on display and without shifting her gaze replies.
"Oh yes, she's OK for me but with those tits we're going to have to budget for more material."
I laugh. "Well it seems we've found our lady. House lights please."
"Ida" I beckon to her. "Thank you so much for waiting so long today, I know how wearing that can be but I'm happy to say that we'd like you to play the lead in our production. Now if you'd like to give us contact details, agent and so forth we can call it a day and we'll be in contact to let you have the full script, rehearsal schedule and of course wardrobe."
I collect my papers and retrieve my coat from the back of the seat in front of me.
"We'll be popping in to the pub round the corner for a drink so please join us if you like to. Say thirty minutes?"
 
“Oh! Wonderful!” she squeals. “Sure! I’ll just call my agent and get him to send you all my info. See you at the pub!”

Ida was overjoyed to be offered the role, and especially to be offered it so quickly. Now she wouldn’t have to pick apart every second of her audition while waiting for the decision.

Ida hadn’t been sent the entire script, so didn’t have a full idea of her role, but she had really liked the scene she had been sent, and had been impressed by the director’s earlier work, so she was really looking forward to getting started.
 
"Two double scotches please" I say to the barman.
"Yeah, and I'll have the same" Ruby chips in.
The barman laughs. He's heard all Ruby's jokes before.
"No seriously, we'll have a bottle of champagne please and three glasses, Lyn will be here in a minute. No on second thoughts make it two bottles and four glasses. I'm hoping we'll have company."
Ruby snorts with laughter.
"You never learn do you, you sad randy bastard."
She's right I suppose but there's no harm in being friendly and I have the feeling there's much more to Ida than meets the eye, character wise that is, we've already seen her physical attributes.
No, I'm sure there's hidden depths there that perhaps we'll plumb one we get into rehearsals.
We shall see.

Ida walks in, wearing the same outfit as before, low heels clicking along the floor as she enters, her long legs shown off by her stockings and the skirt she thinks is a little too revealing. She sees the gang from the theatre at the bar and smiles and waves as she approaches them. “Hi, I’m Ida” she says as she greets each person in turn. “Nice to meet you!”
 
The bartender mutters under his breath, “Damn, John!” and then, like a mantra, “please tell me there’s a nude scene please tell me there’s a nude scene…”
 
Lyn has joined them just in time and they turn as one to great Ida.

"Well here she is, the lady who's restored my sometimes belief that there is a god and manna really does fall from heaven. Ida, let me introduce you."
I turn and indicate my two companions.

"This is Ruby our author who's written perhaps her best and most salacious piece yet and will be your guide whenever you feel lost as to what her character should be feeling and then Lyn who will be dressing you so that the audience would rather you were undressed and then I'm John of course who will be directing you and the furniture – I mean the other cast members of course. We've already spoken very briefly during the audition but I'd like now to formally say how very glad we are that we're going to be working together. I've always found that a close working relationship produces the best and sometime delightfully unexpected results, don’t we.” I say, turning to include Lyn and Ruby.
“I like to feel that we’re a family and of course there will be occasional tiffs but a kiss and a cuddle can usually smooth over most disagreements. Don’t you agree?”
I hand round the champagne and raise my glass.
"To a successful run and debauchery."
 
Ida laughs, and clinks glasses with you all, blushing at the flattery. "I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the script and to working with you all. My agent thought the contract was very open, regarding some of the - ummm....content - and marketing materials, but I figured that was due to the script not being quite finished yet."

"Can you tell me more about the script or the rest of the casting?"
 
"Well I don't want to tread on Ruby's toes but I think it's fair to say that the play is an exploration of sexual relationships in all their beautiful and frequently rather mucky manifestations. Isn't that right Ruby?"
Ruby smiles and nods in a rather knowing fashion leaving John free to continue.
"And in that light your fellow cast members will reflect the variety of couples, or perhaps couplings is a better word, that we come to experience in our lives so the other members of the cast will range from the divine to the desperate, from fit to f... well yes I'm sure you get my drift.
As to the contract it is a little loose but I feel that's in the nature of the work and we wouldn't want to hamper ourselves in any way would we?"
John refills their glasses.
"Ida I have every confidence that you'll rise to the challenge of this rather realistic work as will the members of the cast."
Lyn splutters into her champagne at this, adding "Oh they will for sure when they see what I have in mind for you Ida. And don't be fooled by John, he's like a book with a flowery cover but gritty text inside, aren't you sweetie." She says giving John a peck on his cheek.
 
Ida tries to ignore the reddening of her cheeks. She had known the play had some intimacy in it, but that it was the main focus of the play came as a surprise, though she tried to hide it. “Sounds exciting! A bit like a Lars Von Trier movie.” she jokes, nervously.

She pushes on and asks a lot of questions about the character, her motivations and relationships, clearly taking the job seriously
 
Ida's enthusiasm is exciting and I think we'll have no difficulty getting her to explore the more extreme facets of her character's personality and proclivities as well perhaps her own.
The champagne is taking its toll and after a third glass I'm having some difficulty recalling her questions.
"Forgive me, what was it you asked?"
 
Ida wasn’t much of a drinker, so she was soon a little tipsy, as well. She repeated herself, “well, I asked about when rehearsals would start, and also about…um…if you thought there might be nudity in the show. I haven’t done that before.”
 
"Ah yes, nudity, well it's difficult to represent the reality of sexual interactions if the participants are dressed in nightgowns and passion killer nightdresses. Isn't that so Lyn?"
Lyn smiles her agreement and places her hand on Ida's arm.
"You can rest assured that your wardrobe will be entirely suitable for every aspect of Ruby's wonderful script from fully clothed to well ... fully unclothed but of course there will be a sexual interaction coach on hand to help you."
She smiled at John before continuing. "Although you'll be giving the impression of sexual activity during the play there won't actually be any sexual interactions, well, not intentional of course. And of course as director, John will always be on hand to give you direction both on and off set as we all will."
John refills their glasses draining the last into Ida's glass.
"I'll confirm with you in the morning but read through and rehearsals are due to start on Thursday next when we've had a chance to select your activity partners so to speak. OK?"
 
Ida is reassured by Lyn’s words, and takes a deep breath to calm her nerves before taking a big sip of her champagne and saying,”looks like I’m in for a challenging few weeks! It’s probably scariest before we get started, I guess. It’ll be exciting to meet the rest of the cast on Thursday!”
 
Being a little drunk, Ida feels an attack of direct honesty coming on. “I probably should pretend I’m not nervous, but all this is quite new to me, and I’m pretty shy about showing myself off. I’ve never done a show like this before. But don’t worry - I’m a trooper!” and she gives you a little comedy salute.
 
John smiles into his champagne. He’s heard all this faux modesty before. Given the chance to star in a play written by Ruby and directed by him most would tear their clothes off before you could say knife. Nevertheless it could be true in Ida’s case. Perhaps she is a genuine ingénue but a little late to be still playing that role but she is so right for the part: unknown, gorgeous to look at and whether she knows it or not oozing sexuality. He takes her hands in his.
“Sweetheart of course you’re nervous, we all are at the start of a project like this, especially a risqué one but never fear, we will look after you and help you when you find it difficult or frightening. After all, I believe a star is born and we all want to make sure that is true.

She smiles back, “just taking the train a little ways. I’d better get going! Send me the call times! Nice to meet all of you!” There’s another round of hugs and handshakes, and then she goes. A few guys watching her go…
 
I signal to the barman.
“Another bottle I think and then we must all go home.”
With our glasses replenished I turn to Ruby and Lyn.
“Have we found a gem or what?”
Ruby and Lyn both nod in agreement.
“And if I may say” adds Lyn, with my costume ideas if she just lies there and smoulders that will be enough.”
Ruby smiles. “That’s the whole purpose of my minimal script, pages of direction with the occasional yesss thrown in.”
“But” John cautions “We must take care of her. She’s a very rare commodity who just doesn’t realise yet how sexy she is.”
He drains his glass.
“To sleep, perchance to dream and if I do dream I know who and what it will be about.”
