Actor Chris Penn Found Dead

There is some legitimacy to the comments made, but I understand what you're saying. I also think many people look at his age (early 40's) and want it to be related to drugs/alcohol because the thought of someone so young dying of 'natural causes' is horrible and causes thoughts about their own mortality.
i know that those are the most likely reasons...but that doesn't make them facts.

and i think you're right about why people react that way.

but how would we feel if people were slandering our dead loved ones?

I completely understand and I do take that into consideration. While many could eat their words if he were found to have been murdered, I don't think his death is a reality for us, so it doesn't seem so bad. To clarify, I don't think any who responded are related to him, so it seems distant. I'm not justifying it, but I was providing my opinion on why I think it happens so often.

Just got this off the IMDB.

Penn Died "Natural Death"

American actor Chris Penn died of natural causes, according to the Los Angeles County Coroners Office. The younger brother of Oscar-winner Sean Penn was found dead at his Santa Monica, California, condominium on Tuesday. Morticians carried out an autopsy yesterday and found no signs of foul play, although they are yet to determine the exact cause of death. Spokesperson Lieutenant Cheryl MacWillie says, "It appears to be a natural death." Examiners are believed to have linked Penn's weight to his baffling death - he weighed more than 270 pounds. Santa Monica Police Department spokesman Lieutenant Frank Fabrega has confirmed there will be no homicide investigation.

Apparently they are going to determine the cause of his "natural death" in toxicology tests. Results in 30 days.
