I take "works" to mean text when I read it. I don't see picture as being a work. I guess I am the only one.

Artists WORK to make images. both in the immediate sense and the work of study and practice preceding the execution.

Think also of "great works of art"

Obviously, A.I. is NOT work and therein is part of the problem.

You might be the only one. As @THROBBS says, we refer to "great works of art" when referring to visual art, it's a common expression.
