I don't mind constructive criticisim, but I do object to the abusive kind......especially when sent anonymously.. Anyone else get this problem? Also I'm not happy with the fact this person assumed I had written from experience
We all get negative feedback sometimes. You're not alone. I believe Lit allows anonymous feedback so that people will feel more comfortable sending it and not having it be made public that they frequent a porn site.
Those nasty emails are hard to take sometimes. You just have to shrug them off.
I believe you can make it so that people can't send you anonymous feedback. Check out your login page. I think you can fix that there.
Also, you can't control what assumptions people make about you. A great many people DO write their stories based on their real experiences (or at least they CLAIM to.) Why is it so bad that they thought that?
If the person assumed you'd written from experience, then without meaning to, s/he paid you a sort of compliment -- they obviously didn't understand that you have the imagination to have made up the story! They probably couldn't make up a story themsleves.
So don't worry about it, it's not really that negative!
Thanks for all the comments. The fact is I was called a Motherf**cking dirty slut whore.....etc ad nauseum, and what about my 'poor husband and children' etc etc. Well like I say I don't mind being crtitcized, but this was way beyond that. Not that I'm letting it ruin my life or anything! xxx
You obviously struck a "raw" nerve with this reader. You brought him/her so much into the story that it generated not only the normal feelings of a "spouse cheated on" but also a verbal reaction as well. I would say to you that its a job well done!
In my own mind, I might have called the wife in the story a "Motherf**cking dirty slut whore", etc. if I had real life experiences to relate to as a reader. You actually got the reader so wrapped up in your story that their reaction was verbalized to the point that it caused them to send you an email with it.
Take it as a compliment for your writing ability and don't let it get you down.
I thought it was romantic as well. I enjoyed reading it. But I can see how it could generate a reaction like you got from that anonymous reader. I guess it just depends on the mindset the reader has at the time. Don't let responses like that slow you down.
eleni, pookie grrl is right, and not because i am one of her biggest fans.
To have a reader so caught up in your story that they hit the feedback button and unload on you in such a manner means you got to them on a very personal level.
Your stories are good. I remember receiving a feedback along the same lines that I was a bitch and deserved what I got. The problem is I'm a guy and was writing in the female POV. It is one of my most treasured feedbacks because I not only 'made' the reader believe the story, but they believed I was the character.
These are the people that think the letters to Penthouse are real, too.
On the other hand, if you have an "e" stalker and you get the same type thing over and over, let Laurel know so she can try to track the offender down and show them the exit sign.
And remember, the only way not to be a Lit virgin is practice, practice, practice.
I've had one experience like that. Someone accused me of warping children's minds etc. (I'm a teacher and it says so in my profile.) He DID give an email and we discussed it. Still, there are some wackos out there who call you perverted for writing it, but then THEY'RE here reading it. DUH.
Eleni and Amy run after and catch Wildfire247. We do delicious things to him and to each other.
Eleni writes a story about it which is a huge success in Literotica!!
Wildflower247 writes his version of what we did to him.
Will the stories match at all?
Amy thinks about writing another poem when she remembers how much fun she had and how much she learned.
