About that Muslim Brotherhood...

I have a serious problem with that little piece of reporting.

The US Military has 0, read that as zero, powers of arrest. The entire premise of that article is from the standpoint of the US Military 'arresting' a US citizen on DoD property or some similar circumstance.

Ishmael

How are you going to read him his rights without an arrest?

Egyptian security sources said unidentified attackers blew up the gas pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula on July 4. The sources reported the explosion at Sinai's Bir Abed, 60 kilometers from the Suez Canal, which damaged the facility and forced a shutdown of the entire pipeline.

This marked the fourth reported attack on the gas pipeline since February and came amid Egyptian government demands for clients to pay significantly higher fees for energy.

The pipeline supplies Israel, Jordan and Syria, and an Egyptian official was quoted as saying the facility would be repaired by July 6.

The sources said the latest attack was similar to previous sabotage, which has been blamed on Bedouins and Al Qaida agents based in the neighboring Gaza Strip. They said men armed with submachine guns broke into a pipeline station, drove out the guards and then planted explosives that blew up the facility.

Outrageous Egyptian Leader [and co-Bro] Claims Holocaust 'a Lie'

...[and that 9/11 was an joint US/Israeli attack, and that bin Laden was an US agent...]

A powerful Egyptian leader claims that the September 11th terrorist attacks were "made in the USA" and the Holocaust "is a lie," in a recent interview with The Washington Times.

Ahmed Ezz El-Arab, the vice chairman of Egypt's Wafd Party, went on to claim that Anne Frank's memoirs were a "fake" and that despite evidence; six million Jews were not killed in the Holocaust.

"The Holocaust is a lie" Mr. Ezz El-Arab said. "The Jews under German occupation were 2.4 million. So if they were all exterminated, where does the remaining 3.6 million come from?"

Not only does he not believe that amount of Jews were killed, but he also completely denies that Nazis used brutal techniques in their attempt to exterminate Jews from the world.

"But gas chambers and skinning them alive and all this? Fanciful stories," he said.

Some of Ezz El-Arab's most interesting comments come in relation to another political leader that doesn't believe in the Holocaust, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Despite the very clear connection that the two have with one another, Ezz El-Arab insists that his motives are different than Ahmadinejad's.

"He's a hateful character, so whatever he says can be criticized," he said. "What he says about the Holocaust is true, but he doesn't say it because it's true. He says it out of hatred to the Israeli state."

Ezz El-Arab's Wafd Party had long been irrelevant on the Egyptian political scene but saw a major rise in power when former President Holani Mubaruk was ousted in February. The party quickly emerged as one of the most powerful parties in Egypt and has since joined in a coalition with another power, The Muslim Brotherhood, to create a more unified Egyptian political group.

It will be interesting to see how the United States government will handle Ezz El-Arab and the Wafd Party should their coalition win in the next elections. Especially considering Ezz El-Arab believes that Osama Bin Laden was an "American agent" and the 9/11 attacks were a result of a combined United States and Israel attack.

Not surprisingly at all, Ezz El-Arab doesn't have the highest opinion of current President Barack Obama.

"Obama is a nice face that has been brought up, the black rabbit taken out of the American hat when it was needed."

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has informed Congress that it has approved the sale of 125 M1A1 Abrams Tanks to the government of Egypt.

...

On Friday there was yet another round of anti-government protests in Egypt. Earlier this week Ahmed Ezz al-Arab who leads Wafd (Egypt's largest secular party) revealed his full-on hatred for Israel and the Jewish people. Al-Arab sounded like an Ahmadinejad clone as he spewed his Holocaust denial rhetoric and claimed that 9-11 was made in the U.S.A. The most likely party to gain control of Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and has the objective of ending the peace treaty with Israel.

This all begs the question of why Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton would be interested in selling tanks to such an unstable nation which is a powder keg of anti-Israeli ambitions. The Jerusalem Post reports:

The Pentagon told Congress - which has 30 days to object to the deal - that the sale of tanks would "contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East."

The Pentagon further stated that the new tanks would "provide Egypt with a modern tank fleet, enhancing its capacity to meet current and future threats."
With mountains of evidence all pointing towards the victory of forces that are openly hostile to our most valued Israeli allies, it would appear that Mr. Obama, Mrs. Clinton and the DOD are either blind to the situation in the Middle East or are intentionally threatening Israel. How much influence does Huma Abedin have with Mrs. Clinton? Ms. Adedin's (aka Mrs. Weiner) mother and brother have been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood in an American Thinker article last month. Will Congress step up to the plate and stop this sale? Mr. Boehner where do you stand?
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog...stration_approves_sale_of_tanks_to_egypt.html

I reckon the most logical administration explanation goes something like this:

Egypt wants to buy tanks, so they're going to buy them from someone.

We are in the business of selling arms to the world; if we don't sell Egypt tanks our main arms competitors, Communist China and/or Russia, will.

Plus, the Abrams is already the main battle tank of the Egyptian army - so what's the ethical fuss all of a sudden?

We also give Egypt billions of dollars in American taxpayer-forced aid; this is a way to recoup a fraction of that American taxpayer-forced "investment".

Even if Egypt ends up using their American-made tanks against their own people and/or Israeli, what difference does it make...

...they're going to buy tanks from someone and we're in the business of providing arms to the world.

Like America's $65 billion arms deal to the dictators in the House of Saud, this deal will aid whatever government emerges in Egypt in keeping their dissenters down while, at the same time, it will contribute economic liberty to our own economy now being held hostage.

So, in summation...

...this administration and this military establishment view this arms sale as good for American business and good for "peace" in the region.

And if Congress - by the slightest of chances - doesn't choose to view it that exact same way, the full force of persuasion shall be brought to bear against that ill-advised position by not only this administration but by the leverage of the millions of dollars campaign contributions passed around by General Dynamics.

Thousands back Tulsa officer ordered to Muslim worship

Captain punished for refusing to attend 'Islamic proselytizing event'

Tens of thousands of Americans are lining up in support of a police officer in Tulsa, Okla., who was punished for refusing his department's order to attend an "Islamic proselytizing event" even as a legal team representing the captain is petitioning the court to add new allegations of misbehavior by his superiors to a lawsuit over the dispute.

WND reported earlier when a legal action was brought by attorneys with the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Paul Fields.

Named as defendants are the city, police chief Charles W. Jordan and deputy chief Alvin Daryl Webster.

The lawsuit focuses on the officer's constitutional and civil rights, and along with a resolution of Fields' concerns, it seeks an injunction preventing "enforcement of defendants' unconstitutional acts, policies, practices, procedures and/or customs."

At issue were orders by the department that Fields participate in an event at a local Islamic center that has been described as a proselytizing campaign. The Tulsa Police Department had told officers to attend a "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" organized by the Islamic Society of Tulsa. The invitation said the officers would be given tours of the mosque, meet the mosque's leadership, be given presentations of "beliefs, human rights, women" and "watch the 2-2:45 weekly congregational prayer service."

A petition campaign organized by ACT! for America already has collected tens of thousands of signatures in support of Fields. The organization, run by global Islamic terrorism expert Brigitte Gabriel, is planning to present the petition signatures to officials in Tulsa on behalf of the officer.

Gabriel lectures nationally and internationally about terrorism, and her audiences have included the Australian prime minster, members of British Parliament, members of the U.S. Congress, the Pentagon and the FBI.

The petition states: "We the undersigned are outraged that Captain Paul Fields was demoted and suspended without pay for refusing to attend a 'Law Enforcement Appreciation Day' at the Islamic Society of Tulsa, which was nothing more than an Islamic proselytizing event."

The petition explains, "The Islamic Society of Tulsa is a Muslim Brotherhood-connected Islamic Center with close ties to ISNA (Islamic Society of North America). According to zTruth.com, the property title of the Islamic Society is held by NAIT[/I] (North American Islamic Trust). Both ISNA and NAIT were named as unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, which resulted in 108 guilty verdicts."

Meanwhile, a legal team working on Fields' behalf, the attorneys of the Thomas More Law Center, told WND they are seeking court permission to amend their original complaint over the city's actions to include the specific damages that have accumulated.

The damages include two weeks of being suspended from pay for his refusal to attend the Islamic event and the threat that he will not be considered for promotion for a time, according to Law Center president Richard Thompson.

"We asked the court to amend our complaint to add the actual discipline," Thompson said. "Because of the new facts raised as our reason for amending the complaint that should be granted."

He said an additional First Amendment claim also is being added, because city officials told Fields that part of the discipline was for allowing the public to know about the dispute.

"If this had been a Muslim officer told to go to a Christian prayer service and the Muslim officer refused because it would violate his Islamic faith, there would have been no reaction at all," Thompson told WND.

"But this happened because this was a Christian officer who said the orders would violate his Christian principles."

Thompson said it is startling how easily a Muslim Brotherhood-related idea can co-opt American rights.

The lawsuit explains that, at first, the police administration's recommendation for attendance at the Islamic event appeared to be voluntary – there was a voluntary signup list. But the law firm said when officers refused to respond, the managers made it a required event.

The day "had nothing to do with any official police function. It clearly fell outside of the police department's policy on community policing, and based on comments made by police department officials in a closed door meeting, it was not 'community outreach' as it has been previously portrayed," the law firm explained.

"Rather, it included a mosque tour, meetings with local Muslims and Muslim leadership, observing a 'weekly prayer service,' and lectures on Islamic 'beliefs,'" the Thomas More Law Center explained. "The event was scheduled for Friday, March 4, 2011 – Friday being the 'holy day' or 'Sabbath' for Islam. In fact, the event was originally voluntary, but when not enough officers were willing to attend, it became mandatory."

The lawsuit alleges, "The event held by the Islamic Society involved Islamic proselytizing. The Islamic Society event was advertised as including Islamic proselytizing, and it in fact resulted in the proselytizing of city police officers who attended the event."

The issue of Islamic law, or Shariah, infiltration into the United States is drawing increasing attention. Several state legislative efforts already have developed, including in Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Florida. The laws aim to prevent judges from applying Shariah, which includes penalties such as beheading for leaving Islam, in the government's court systems.

Last year in Oklahoma, voters with a 70 percent majority approved such a ban, but U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange blocked it after the Council on American-Islamic Relations argued the move was "anti-Islam."

The issue also is the subject of a lawsuit in Michigan, where city officials in Dearborn are accused of allowing Shariah to be used to block Christians from discussing their faith at the city-sponsored Arab Fest. Under Shariah, it is illegal for a Muslim to convert to another faith.

According to the new Tulsa lawsuit, images of some police officers appeared later in a publicity photograph used by the mosque to promote "Islam classes for Non-Muslims."

The Thomas More Law Center, which already is involved in other litigation defending the religious freedom of Christians as well as "countering the infiltration of radical Muslims in America," said it was working with Tulsa attorney Scott Wood to defend Fields' "constitutional right not to become a propaganda prop for the local mosque."

Fields had responded to the order to appear for the tour, prayer and other mosque events with a written notice stating: "Please consider this e-mail my official notification to the Tulsa Police Department and the city of Tulsa that I intend not to follow this directive, nor require any of my subordinates to do so if they share similar religious convictions."

Webster then ordered Fields into a meeting where he was handed an order transferring him to the Mingo Valley Division, an area known for drug activity, as well as a notification of an internal investigation of Fields.

The lawsuit explains that the Tulsa Islamic Society is "Shariah-adherent," meaning that it teaches Islamic law must control "all matters of life, politics, and religious law."

"Consequently, the religion of Islam is not merely one segment of life; it regulates life completely, from the social and the political to the diplomatic, economic, and military. The combination of religion and politics as a unified, indefeasible whole is the foundation of Islam, an inseparable political/religious doctrine of Islamic governments, and the basis of Muslim loyalties. In this respect, the theo-political doctrine of Islam is contrary to the dictates of the First Amendment's religion clauses," the lawsuit explains.

"In an Islamic context there is no such thing as a separate secular authority and secular law, since religion and state are one. Essentially, the Islamic state as conceived by orthodox Muslims is a religious entity established under divine law."

The suit notes that under Islam, there are members of the House of Islam and "infidels," whom it teaches eventually all will submit to Islam.

Thus, the "Appreciation Day" was no more than an opportunity "to promote what Shariah-adherents such as the Muslim Brotherhood have described as 'civilization jihad,'" the lawsuit said.

The complaint also notes the Tulsa organization is affiliated with the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Society of North America – both "unindicted, co-conspirators and/or joint venturers in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial."

ISNA, the case explains, is the "largest Muslim brotherhood front in North America."

The Tulsa organization has had featured speakers such as Imam Siraj Wahhaj, who is "a Shariah-adherent Muslim who promotes the destruction of Western civilization and the creation of an Islamic caliphate," according to the lawsuit.

Did the Muslim Brotherhood take control of Egypt yet? How much longer do we have to wait for this prediction to come true?

Yes, they entered into an alliance with the military and are backing the crushing of pro-Democracy factions...

It was in the news. We posted it. I guess you really do read blogs.

Because they haven't changed the country's name to "The Brotherhood of Muslim Egypt" yet, he thinks the 'hood has faded away.

When idiots post.

The Muslim Brotherhood is the oldest, and largest, Muslim organization in the world. It was founded in 1928 and it's goal is to codify Shariah law, based on the Sunnah and Q'uran into every Muslim nation.

Virtually every other radical Muslim organization has it's roots in the Muslim Brotherhood, yes, even Iran.

The Western press likes to point out that the Brotherhood is somewhat unpopular with Egyptian youth as if that is some significant point. Nations, particularly Islamic nations, are not ruled by the youth and polls in Egypt indicate that 70% (+/-) favor the adoption of Sharia law. Regardless of what the disaffection of the youth of Egypt may be, it appears that the Brotherhood is well on it's way to the realization of its goals.

In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals. The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes.

The hand of the Brotherhood is behind virtually all of the 'Arab Spring' uprisings. Outside of Egypt most of the political organizations associated with the Brotherhood are named Hamas. In Jordan it calls itself the Islamic Action Front. It uses other names in other states in the region.

In Syria the Brotherhood has long sought to depose the Assad family from power. Much of that reason is based on religious differences in that the ruling junta in Syria is of the Alawite sect, a sect held only slightly above the Druze as far as being considered apostate to Islam.

The Brotherhood has a long standing feud going with Gadhafi over his exiling and/or imprisoning a significant number of their influential members in the country. They are positioning themselves as the new political leadership should Gadhafi fall from power.

Other states where the Brotherhood has significant presence are;

Sudan
Bahrain
Somalia
Algeria

They also are operative in several of the states of the former Soviet Union and are represented in the United States by the Muslim Students Association, North American Islamic Trust, the Islamic Society of North America, the American Muslim Council, the Muslim American Society, and the International Institute of Islamic Thought.

The only pro democracy movement that wasn't tied to the Brotherhood was the only movement the current administration didn't back and that was in Iran a year ago.

Al-Qaida scoffs at Leon Panetta

Defense chief claimed U.S. 'within reach' of defeating jihad group

JERUSALEM – A representative of al-Qaida in the Gaza Strip is scoffing at a statement by Leon Panetta in which the newly appointed defense secretary claimed the U.S. "is within reach of strategically defeating" the global jihadist group.

"What Panetta said is nonsense and is for internal U.S. consumption only," Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadiya Salafiya in the Gaza Strip, told WND. "It's not supported by facts on the ground."

Jihadiya Salafiya represents al-Qaida in the Gaza Strip.

"Al Qaida is Islam," said Saqer, speaking in Arabic from Gaza via an interpreter. "You can kill a Muslim, but you cannot kill the idea of Islam. We will keep fighting."

"Al-Qaida will never stop existing for the simple reason that there are hundreds of bigger organizations elsewhere that believe in the main goal of defeating the West," he said.

Saqer denied that the elimination of Osama bin Laden and recent high profile assassinations of al-Qaida leaders in Afghanistan and Yemen presented major U.S. strategic victories.

"After the assassination of Sheik Osama bin Laden, attacks were still carried out against allied forces in Afghan, in Pakistan," he said.

Saqer continued: "Ayman al-Zawahiri is now the leader, and al-Qaida is being managed. And in Iraq and Afghanistan already our leaders were replaced. The Islamic movement in the world is only growing on account of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic organizations."

Saqer said Panetta doesn't understand the methodology of al-Qaida nor its operations.

"Al-Qaida as a structure is not one centralized organization, but it's an umbrella for many smaller organizations. Sometimes these groups act with no direct link between other groups, and at other times there is coordination and working together," he said.

The jihadist leader vowed revenge for bin Laden's assassination:

"All intelligence data in the world says al-Qaida sympathizers are only growing around world, and very soon the world will start seeing al-Qaida reactions to the assassination of Sheik Osama bin Laden."

Panetta made his assertions about al-Qaida in a briefing to reporters before he landed in Afghanistan on Saturday

"I think we have them on the run. I think now is the moment, now is the moment following what happened with bin Laden to put maximum pressure on them, because I do believe that if we continue this effect that we really can cripple al-Qaida as a threat to this country," Panetta said.

"Having gotten bin Laden, we've now identified some of the key leadership within al-Qaida, both in Pakistan as well as in Yemen and other areas," Panetta said. "If we can go after them I think we really can strategically defeat al-Qaida," Panetta said, adding that targeting al-Qaida leadership has also helped counter the Islamist terror group's ability to raise money.

Saqer's group, meanwhile, is widely suspected to have been behind the kidnapping and murder in April of Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni in the Gaza Strip, leading to a major crackdown by Hamas on the al-Qaida-linked group.

The group is also accused of multiple attacks against Christians in the Gaza Strip.

While both Hamas and al-Qaida are offshoots of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, the two groups often clash over a difference in tactics.

Jihadiya Salafiya has been openly challenging Hamas rule, regularly publishing pamphlets labeling Hamas as "non-Muslim" since the terror group ran in 2006 democratic elections, which radical Islamic organizations see as an expression of Western values.

The two groups have engaged in deadly firefights the past two years.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=320961

on Wednesday, July 6th, the Iranian Supreme Leader's Advisor for Military Affairs, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the ex-chief commander of the Guards, stated that the Muslim states' main share in control over the world's vital energy corridors has provided Islamic nations with an excellent chance to control the world economy. He reminded the Islamic nations that their rich energy resources are their source of power, giving Muslims the capability to control the world economy.

Safavi further elaborated that "[a]bout 80 percent of the world trade is done through sea voyage and cargo fleets and these fleets of cargo ships will pass through the world's strategic straits. Meantime, Islamic countries are located on both sides of these strategic bottlenecks, which we call 'compulsory passages.' Thus it can be said that Muslim states can come into control of the world economy." He added that the same case is true even with military issues such as in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, when the U.S. dispatched over 200,000 troops through the very same vital and strategic waterways.

Safavi went on to say that the U.S. claims to have the world's number-one army, while the main part of its forces, military strategy, and power lies with its Navy; and because of that, it is vulnerable to Muslim nations, given the Islamic states' control over strategic waterways. He then pointed to the recent popular uprisings in the region, and stressed that the 21st century will witness the emergence of a new power under the name of the "Muslim World."

...

Back in March, I reported on the statements of the commander of the Basij organization, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naghdi, in which he claimed that all Middle East gas and oil will soon be cut off to infidels, elaborating that "eventy percent of the world's fossil fuel reserve is under the feet of the soldiers of the Supreme Leadership and soon oil and gas fields belonging to Muslims, which is now in the hands of America, will fall into the hands of the people. That will be the time when all those overlords will have sanctions put on them." He added: "The enemy is heavily dependent on this energy and the events in the region have them quite agitated. This, of course, provides us with a hopeful future."

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011...century_of_a_worldwide_islamic_awakening.html

Of course, drilling and domestic production are not the answer.

Speaking of 1928, ol' Merc sounds a bit like that Chamberlain chap!
