About last night.

I really like this part of Lit.

Lit is not new to me; I've been here on and off since its' inception.

It's one of the last places on the Web that maintains some semblance of the way it was online in 93-94 when the web was new and many thought it would "change everything".

So, while Lance is new here, I'm not.

And, like the BBS' that preceded the WWW, it's still a wild and wooly place here sometimes...and I like that, too.

BDSM is special to me as a person.

So this Board is special to me.

And because my personal and business experience tells me this place is underperforming in terms of numbers, protocol and basic Netiquette...I can get very disappointed at the shortcomings here.

I've allowed some here to ride roughshod over me, just to see how far they'd go.

Others I've made a point of riding to see what they've really got.

And others I've stepped on unfairly....just becuase I was pissy at the nonsense of it all.

But I do care about and believe in this Board and the words in the Sticky.

I hope you do too.

Because if I catch you dishonouring those words.....I'll get cranky.

Until then, I'll try to be a better man.

Was there something that made you afraid to speak your mind here? Obviously if you've followed bdsm posts for years, you knew of the mega thread. Why wait till May to register? I've had identities at most places since the web came around, and at bbs', mudds and such before that.

As I've said before, the BDSM board at Lit reminds me of the early daze at Bianca's Smut Shack, a place I used to frequent and enjoy.

I've frequented Lit a few times since about 1998 or 1999; I wasn't here much in the past year or so, as I was travelling. (Though I have extensive online experience, I live my life in the real world.)

Identities previous to Lance would hold no particular memories for you, I would think.

I find your use of words like "monitored" , "fear" and "inquiring minds" interesting, telling and no offence, amusing.

This is a cloistered, defensive place in my view and your words as a regular of note reinforce that, just as the patterns exhibited by the mods and others in dealing with the new and/or those who question or challenge the existing paradigm here in any way do as well.

You can cut the air with the mood of fear and defensiveness here...which is why I often will refer to the Sticky and provoke discussion on people's manners.

If this place lived up to the Sticky's words and intentions I think it could be a great place to be.

Right now, it seems to be mostly wearisome for many, producing far less joy, wonder and ecstasy than is possible.

I'd suggest that that's been the pattern here for some time.

I think the nature and quality of the regular participants, combined with Moderation by known personalities versus anonymous GodMods, combines to stifle the air here and ought to be changed.

Your primary question relates to subs & Doms, presumably because of your personal interests.

I have answered you with a broader brush. I trust you won't consider my response as spin and hope you will feel free to ask what you like here or by PM, as goes for everyone.

You're right it is wearisome here lately. And you're right that it has been the pattern for some time. I Know it's kept me away lately.

My question to you is this: Why do YOU think it's gotten this way? Don't blame the mods either, that seems to be your answer to everything lately. Oh and subs that act passive aggressive.

Ok, I just got the impression that you were trying to pass yourself off as a Lit historian when in reality you were taking a specific incident and drawing general concussions from it. I've probably read less than .005% of all posts on lit, but I have followed the bdsm side fairly close. And I'm one of those people who are blessed with a pretty good memory. I'm dyslectic, and sometimes not so tactful, and I snore, and have many other shortcomings, but I do tend remember things I read.

As far as the board goes, I don't think you can "fix" it. You can only seek out the good and ingore the bad. I can see some benefits in faceless Mods, but the faceless mods would still make decisions that would piss someone off. And people like cym would still have strong opinions that wouldn't be any less biting if she didn't wear a Mod Hat.

...now you've added "passing off" to the list of Lance Descriptors, which I suggest adds credence to my earlier suggestions that the attitude here is somewhat grim, defensive... and mistrusting.

I do propose to continue being straight up in my posts.

I am not sure why you seem interested in pinning down how much data I have processed to reach my opinions.

If it's for the sake of some kind of ranking, let's agree you have more hours in here and call it a day.

i guess maybe i dont post in this section enough to fully know if there is a strange atmosphere ... but when i do post here i find people very welcoming even though im "nilla" and considered a newbie here

i do understand why people wouldn't want to have their interest in BDSM known in there R/L but i think most people on literotica wouldn't want anybody on here to know who they were or where they live unless they specifically told them privately ... i've never thought that was a significant problem at literotica as long as you are careful ... if you dont post private information about yourself then nobody else can

For the sake of clarity, I do indeed understand and have always understood why people wish to remain anonymous here.

What I've said and now say again is that I don't understand why, given the anonymity built in here, the fears expressed would be so real to those expressing them.

That being said, and given the negative reaction I get when that is touched, I neither need nor want to keep repeating it...it's a non-issue for me now and has been for some time. Life goes on.

I hope you hear what I am saying on that point.

As for my posts reducing your joy, know that posts like yours, and responding to them in a clear, reasoned way....are no joy for me either.

You asked me what I think the problem is/was...I think it starts at the top and I think it has to do with lack of openess and exclusivity. Clubs and cliques everywhere are like that, so it's no surprise to see it here.
