About feedback and story discussion

These are just a couple of things I've been thinking about.

I have never recieved feedback, and I haven't given any either. I'm not quite sure what people write when giving feedback. Do you go into detail about what exactly you like in a thread, like give deatils about what you like in the scenes(s) described? Or do you just give an overall evaluation of the thread?

And I've been thinking about feedback given to stories as a whole. I've seen threads here on the chyoo forums dedicated to chyoo stories, but most of them seem to be about drawing attention to the story and to notify others about recent updates. Not that I think there's a problem in that, I have just been wondering if people don't actively discuss the stories here.

Wouldn't it be beneficial to both writers and readers, if people would give input in threads here, and give feedback on both individual threads as well as the story as a whole. The creator of the story could also discuss with the other writers what he/she would like to see happen sometime later in the story or how one of the characters should preferable behave and develop. Or people could make requests and let writers know exactly what they like about people's ideas and writing style.

But would there be a problem with too many chyoo authors simply not visit these forums? Or would many be uncomfortable sharing their thought on stories and threads in public?

I give all kinds of feedback. Sometimes I talk about the theme of the thread, sometimes I point out specific grammar problems that make it really hard to read, and sometimes I just pay a compliment to a good thread.

Mcstories.com has a forum where every week people start a thread giving little reviews of the newly posted stories. Sometimes the author objects, but usually it's constructive. I'm not sure how well that would work here, since the stories are done by multiple people. If an author wanted to start a thread asking for feedback, that would be interesting.

I'd like to see someone do that as well. It might even make me read a story I normally wouldn't have read, to be able to give my opinion on it and to better understand the views of others.
