No more than one hundred feet away he watched, day by day, the girl leave her building and get into her car. It was the same time everyday until she’d disappear for the weekend. She had become a fascination for him. Or even more dangerously, an obsession.

On the outside Mark was normal. There was nothing strange or different about him. But underneath the suit and tie he wore everyday to work Friday was different. Friday he decided to stay home all day until she’d return from work. The day would give him enough hours to get everything he needed for the abduction and the torture.

Relationships were hard. This was going to be easy for him in comparison. After the abduction all he had to do was keep quiet. He’d seen enough news that told him he’d be able to hide the girl away for as long as he needed to provided he was smart about it. It would take time but it was time he was willing to spend.

When he was through looking out the window he drew the blinds closed. Glancing toward his near vacant apartment he knew now that he was going to go through with it all. All the arrangements had been made. The cabin was ready, the car had been looked over, all he needed was to wait for night to overtake the day. Even if on the off chance she went out tonight he was prepared to wait her out. Patience had been a staple of his character since he first spotted the girl crossing the street six months ago. It was reinforced with time, padded with reassurance that she would soon be his whether she wanted it or not.

All that remained was the suit he wore, the car keys in his pocket and his briefcase containing a set of restraints. A lie about a gun or knife would be enough to keep her quiet and if not, he decided he could knock her out if he had to. She was going to suffer pain anyway, why not introduce it to her at the starting gun?

Mark walked the length of the room to shut off the lights. Slivers of sunlight slipped through the curtains as he walked into the bedroom where he lied on the old mattress. He’d sleep uncomfortably for a few hours to help pass the time, and to help keep him awake longer through the night. All that was left was to wait.

Tessa

Tessa was a young sweet girl about 23 years old shy caring giving, everything a man would want in a girl.. but she was not looking.. she was shy and not really ready for the whole dating scene or was it just that she was shy and to nice that not many men really took the time to know her, she worked as a pharmacy technician and worked some late hours in the 24 hour pharmacy.

Tessa was not really a stupid girl but she was very reserved and stayed to herself, aside from her family and a few close friends... she did not trust all that easily as well. She was a caring person though and very giving and that was a downfall for sure.

She was working late that night as always, and she was damned tired having pulled a double at that. She would be glad when the night was over and she could go home rest her feet and read a book.

Tessa was a tough girl also she did not take crap from anyway.. and only once in her life had she really been completely lost and broken she was about 16 when her father died and perhaps thats when she lost all of her trust in men.. well people in general but it was mostly men, how could someone she trusted so damn completely leave her, well she knew it was not his fault but still two years it took her to get over it, and she was not sure if she truly would ever be over it, but it helped toughen her up.

Damn had she wore the wrong show that night, leaving her long blond hair lay wearing a knee length dress with black boots to her knees. Would the night ever come....

Mark stayed inside the apartment, looking across the street through slitted blinds. The glare of lights flashed across his barren wall whenever someone turned down the street and with some excitement he stuck a finger through the blind, allowing him just enough room to see. There were plenty of false alarms and eventually he settled himself so he came to expect nothing. It wasn’t until late in the night that he found what he was searching for.

Bringing the jacket to his suit up around his shoulders, he grabbed his briefcase and opened it on his bed. Out he took plasticuffs, setting it up for his plot to steal away the girl. There were other tools but he’d wait to spring them on her when he needed to. Mark felt the surprise and tossing her into the trunk would be enough. What he had been planning all this time was becoming a reality.

With the cuffs in one hand and the briefcase in the other he let the door glide to a close but it remained unlocked. It didn’t matter. There was nothing there to steal. And he was never coming back. This would be the last time he’d walk this street, stare across at her building and the last time he would want without having. From now on his needs would go fulfilled.

The air hit him hard, the chill surprising. He’d grown too used to the day’s temperatures but this was a thoughtless adjustment. From across the street he saw the cab pulling away and Alexa climbing the stairs to her building. Hastening his speed, Mark crossed the street as soundlessly as he could. When he came close enough he dropped his briefcase, letting it tumble down the stairs as both his hands grabbed her elbows, swiftly slipping down her arms until he held her wrists. Violently he tugged them behind her, tightening the already loosened cuffs around each of her wrists.

With a violent tug toward his body he was sure to whisper in her ear, “If you wanna scream I’ll slit your throat right here and disappear into the night. No one will ever find me. They won’t know my motive and they won’t know who I am.”

Mark spun her quickly, catching her just before she tempted gravity against the stairs. With one hand he held the cuffs while the other reached into his pocket, hitting the remote to unlock the trunk of his car. With a nearly inaudible sound, the trunk of a car no more than fifteen feet away popped open. With a shove he gave her the general idea. His briefcase, he’d retrieve that after he’d taken care of the girl.

With both hands on her wrists he felt he had control as he guided her forward. “Don’t get cute.” Then he shoved her forward, to the trunk.

Alexa

Alexa was grateful that the day finally ended, it had been a long and weary day all she wanted was to get home, curl up on the sofa with a good book and then take a long hot bath maybe have a glass of wine, pull a tee shirt on and just crawl into bed.

She got into her car, it was windy out so she pulled on her black leather jacket, and pulled the back to cover her now chilled neck. She would be home soon enough, and that was good enough for her, she walked to her cab glad that he was there just in time as he drove slowly to her house, and she was enjoying the less traffic that nighttime brought.

He pulled into the parking spot in front of her apartment, and parked the cab as she paid him and then grabbed her purse and her keys and thanked him as she began walking towards her home. She was tired but not to where she planned on going to sleep right away, all she wanted was a hot bath and her good book and all would be right with the world.

She had her keys in one hand and waited for the cab to pull off, and her purse on the other arm, and headed to the door of the apartment.. never hearing someone come up behind her, and she then felt someone grab her hands and her elbows. She yelped as her hands went behind her back as she almost screamed before she heard the words that the man whispered into her ear.

She as pulled tightly against his body the restraints on her arms were tight and hurt as he pulled her and hissed into her ear. She shivered when he said the words she dreaded most and she knew then and there that she had to be strong as she always was.

As he turned her she looked at him she was surprised he wore no mask, but even more surprised at how handsome he was. She was led to his car and he motioned for her to get into the trunk of his car, part of her wanted to fight, but then again she also knew this was not the way to get through this.

She was in the trunk now and she heard it shut, as tears filled her eyes and she refused to let them fall.

Before slamming the trunk closed, he reached inside, stealing away her purse and any possibility that she’d stashed away her cell, “Watch your head. I don’t need you bleeding all over my car.” With a sigh he glanced up and down the street with his heart pounding in his chest. It seemed as though he’d gotten away with it. The rest would be easy.

Returning to the stairs, Mark picked up his briefcase. With a glance around the ground he couldn’t find anything left behind. No struggle, no notice that she’d struggled. There was a certain amount of self-satisfaction as he returned to his car, bringing his keys out of his pocket. As he walked by the trunk he knocked on it twice as though to tell her that he was still there, listening should she cause a disturbance.

After he was inside the car he saw the trunk release button. Her freedom was dependent on his desire. But that wasn’t going to come for a long time. And there was a long drive ahead.

Looking into the rearview he fixed the mirror after running a hand through his short, black hair. Starting the engine he pulled onto the street and began driving. There was a few hours ahead of him but he didn’t mind. He’d been preparing too long for this. And she could stay in the trunk until he was ready.

Silence and darkness surrounded her. She ran her hand across her moist eyes to brush away the tears before they fell. 'Why did you not fight back you stupid idiot?' She thought to herself as she shifted in the small space trying to figure out what objects may lie in the trunk of the car with her.

She was reaching in the darkness and found a couple of pieces of dirt and what felt like maybe wood chippings, but otherwise the trunk was clean. She had just found the pull cord for the wheel well beneath her when she heard a loud pounding sound above her head. She became very still and looked up as if doing so would let her see anything at all. A second later she heard the driver side door open and felt the car shift slightly as he got in and then closed the door behind him. As the door closed shut she jumped slightly. Then a slight pause before she heard and felt the engine rumble to life.

'Oh God.' Her predicament finally hit her as her heart rate kicked into over drive. He could be taking her anywhere and she hadn't a clue. She closed her eyes and told herself to calm down. They backed up out of the space and then as he shifted gears and began to much more quickly move forward the momentum threw her against the the back of the trunk. It took her a second to get her balance since she could not move much in the tiny space.

The time seemed to tick by. With the worries running through her head the minutes seemed like hours and the hours like days. She curled up and pulled her knees into herself and hugged her arms around the tops of her knee high boots. She heard something about being stuck in a trunk and how you can kick the light out from the inside of some cars and then wave your hand out to get attention and let people know you are in the trunk.

Hope raced through her as she quickly moved to feel for the inside edge of one of the cars back lights. But as she felt around everything seemed to be metal. She turned herself and tried to kick with the bottom of her shoe anyhow just in case. She hoped the noise would be hidden by the sound of the engine.

After a few hours had passed and the sun was just beginning to crack over the horizon, Mark stopped the car on a gravel driveway. Flanked by dense woods on all sides and a two story cabin, he delivered her where she needed to be. His new home. And hers. Killing the engine and putting the keys into his pocket he opened the door, stepping out. It felt good to hit solid ground again. Stretching his legs he stared at the trunk of the car, thinking of the best way to remove her. Those stiletto heels could cause some damage if they hit the right spot.

Approaching the trunk he slipped his hand into his pocket, withdrawing the remote as he placed the other on top of the trunk in case she decided to try to kick it open at the first sight of weakness. Freeing the trunk remotely his hand caught the lid, letting it rise. Then the hand that had been on the trunk reached inside, grabbing her hair. Without pause he tugged, dragging her out of the vehicle. She wouldn’t be able to kick him if she couldn’t find her legs. But it wasn’t fair, since her wrists were still bound, and he knew it. He planned to keep it that way. Alexa was going to be allowed no advantages.

With very little room to move around and almost no light to see by Tessa felt very alone and spiraled in an extreme sadness. Her efforts to kick out a light failed and at best she had scuffed her shoes and possibly dented the meal interior. After that she decided to just lay still and reserve her strength for the fight that was sure to come.

Finally the car pulled to a stop. Tessa immediately tensed. Where had he taken her? Why had he put her into this trunk? Did he want money? Just as she finished this thought she heard the click of the trunk being opened and then the shock of the bright light made her close her eyes again to small slivers so she could get used to it. Before she could open her eyes fully a hand grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled at her. She screamed in pain as she tried to carefully climb out of the trunk so that it would not hurt as much.

He pulled her along so quickly she couldn't catch her footing and instead landed on her right hip and then quickly tried to pull her legs up under her to follow the direction her hair was being pulled. "Ouch stop, Ahhhha! Please stop. Damn it, that fucking hurts!!" Tessa landed again on her left knee hard and let go a squeal of pain as a piece of gravel cut into her skin. She fell onto her side and pulled her leg into her chest. Blood trickled down across her knee and then drifted further down her leg as gravity dragged it down. This pain was worse then the hair being pulled.

Mark looked at the girl with contempt, “Shut up.” Mark wrapped more of her hair around his hand and kept dragging her. Fuck her pain. At least until they had reached the door where he released his hold on her hair. With another look at her he spoke while fishing for his house key, “You’ve got nowhere to go. And this can either be easy for your, or hard. I promise you, you’ll live through it but in what way is up to you.”

There. He’d confirmed that he’d let her live. The only question was if she’d take his words as truth. It didn’t matter to him if she believed him or not. A smile broadened across his face after he found the key and he slipped it into the lock, popping it open. Putting it back into his pocket, Mark grabbed a hold of her hair again, sparing not an ounce of compassion as he pulled at it, wanting to drag her inside. Once there he swung his arm forward, wanting to throw her toward the back of the couch to give him enough time to lock the door from the inside.

After the brief moment and the latch locked shut, Mark watched her in silence for a few passing moments. At the end of that minute or two he spoke a single word, “Strip.”

She cringed as his harsh voice told her to shut up. She rocked in place with her arms around her injured knee until she felt his grip tighten even more in her hair. His arm lifted and she reached up and clasped his arm with both of her hands trying to lessen the pain.

He dragged her to the cabin's front door and then released her hair suddenly, which caused Tessa to collapse hard against the wooden porch. Her head thudded against the door. He fumbled in his pocket and told her some story about promising to let her live.

A few seconds later he had a hold of her hair again and tossed her toward the near by couch. She landed against the back of the couch and it slightly tipped backward before settling back on all four legs. Her first impulse was to curl up into a protective ball, but she realized that if she did that he would only grab hold of her hair again. Instead she stood up and slowly moved to the edge of the couch inching toward the fireplace in the center of the room.

He turned around and stared at her then. Tessa froze in place terrified at what he might do next. When he didn't move and just kept staring she glanced about the room looking for anything she could use as a weapon if the opportunity presented itself. Her gaze had just fallen on the metal basket next to the fireplace which didn't have a poker, but it did have a metal soot shovel. Just then she heard him take in a deep breath and her eyes darted back to him. He said to strip.

"You shove me into the trunk of your car, drive around for hours, pull me around by my hair without even giving me a chance to just do as you ask, and then you tell me that you promise I'll live and you actually expect me to trust you on that." He just stared at her as if he was still waiting for her to comply. "You actually expect me to just take my clothes off because you tell me to? How do I know if I do anything you say that you will ever let me go?" He didn't say anything. Just stood there.

She moved quickly and reached out and snatched up the shovel and then headed behind the couch to put the large piece of furniture between them. She held the shovel in front of her and took up a defensive pose. Ready to run, swing or whatever else she had to do to keep him away from her.

Tessa having the weapon and silently threatening to use it didn’t change his stance in the least. He shook his head at her as though a parent would a child who had gotten themselves into trouble.

“You expect to hold me off with a shovel?” he questioned her with a growing smirk. “Think this through. You’re going to have to make a run for the door and its locked. Do you think you can hold me off with one hand on the shovel? Is the power in your arm that strong?” At this he began moving toward her, around to her side of the couch but remained wary of where that shovel was positioned. He was sure to stay just out of its range. “Even if you manage to escape, where do you plan on going? You don’t have the keys to the car and you have no idea where you’re at. The most you’re going to do with this is piss me off and that isn’t going to endear me to your situation at all. The best thing you can do is set it down and do as you’re told. Anymore delays and punishment will have to be dealt.”

He stared at her then, waiting for her to react one way or the other. He didn’t expect her to believe him but he decided she didn’t have a choice. At the very least he told himself that he was giving her an out, any penalties or punishments she’d accrue between now and its end would all be on her. He’d merely become an instrument of what he perceived as her commitments to a crime against him.

As he approached her she subsequently backed away and eyed him warily. "Endear you to my situation?" Tessa gave a tiny smirk at his ridiculous words. "Oh please. I seriously doubt you can be endeared to anything I would want. So far from you I've had not one kind word, not one inquiry to my feelings, and not one inkling of concern for my well being." She gestured toward the open wound on her knee, which still dripped blood down her leg. "How in the world could you even think I would trust you when you offer kind treatment for my compliance?"

"As for where I would go...well that's really not your problem now is it. Oh, and I don't have to hold you off with one arms' strength. I can always knock you out cold and then unlock the door. So if I were you I'd stay back." Tessa emphasized her words by quickly jabbing the shovel slightly in his direction as she took another step away from him and rounded the couch slowly inching her way towards the door. She never took her eyes off of him though.
