I happened to watch ABC's World News Tonight with host David Muir, a few hours ago and their second story, after a long tribute to Tina Turner, was Ron DeSantis' announcement that he was officially running for the presidency. A no point did anyone disclose the fact that ABC's parent company is Disney, and that Disney is currently suing DeSantis. The report was not overly negative, but the choice of photos and video clips was rather poor. I found the broadcast profoundly surreal.

It's what happens when both political parties support and do the bidding of their corporate masters.

So ABC can’t cover DeSantis??

Sort of his fault

Oops!!

And… those are the only corporations we worry about??

Thanks for waking up and getting “woke” about your position in America!

The big networks are losing influence and viewers and gaining scorn. Candidates may be required to attack them to have credibility.

Should they run a Chiron every time they mention DeSantis?

The DeSantis Clause?

Huh?

"The Fox News Channel (FNC), commonly known as Fox News, is an American multinational conservative news and political commentary television channel and website based in New York City. It is owned by Fox News Media, which itself is owned by the Fox Corporation..."

Wiki

ABC should have noted its ownership. The Murdoch family owns Fox Corp (Fox News), The Wall Street Journal (Dow Jones) and other media assets. Whenever WSJ reports on things about Fox News (ex. recent lawsuit), it discloses common ownership. Same is true of Fox News (Fox Business) reporting on matters pertaining to Dow Jones/WSJ.

And, I guess that means they are intensely involved in the day-to-day operations of all their holdings.

I would think their focus would be on entities loosing them money...

🤷

All backed Trump and lied their asses off while half of the US swallowed their bullshit.

Yes, they should. CNBC and other news agencies regularly mention their ownership and potential conflicts of interest when such exist. Here the conflict isn't potential but actual.

ABC can cover DeSantis, but should alert viewers that they have a direct conflict of interest when covering him.

So? They need to post the same when reporting on others?

Does Musk have to declare who he is helping?? (Mostly himself as our self appointed God)

How about Rupert Murdock??

There are complaints about Soros, and yet there other billionaires inserting themselves in politics.

I see.

So, you would like them to follow the same example CNN does? And other "liberal" media outlets do? Because they mention their conflicts of interest during their reporting - all the time.

OK. All we need for you to do is say the following: "I would like ABC to follow the standards that liberal media does. I consider liberal media standards to be the gold standard in this aspect."

We'll wait. 🙂

You are conflating completely different roles and therefore different duties. News agencies, as we have seen adnauseam, have agendas. However, having an agenda does not equal having a direct conflict of interest.

Musk… is billing himself as the keeper of the world electronic brain or some such nonsense.

Murdoch runs Fox News

Sean Hannity has gun related advertisers yet pontificates about gun issues

Yeah … none of those have agendas

You are referring to Fake News having agendas? That’s your reality. Our Faux News is Fox. They will be paying another huge settlement for their “agenda”
