I'm a very patient person, really I am. Ask anybody that knows me.

However, is it REALLY necessary to post entire LONG political articles? I enjoy hearing your differing points of view...really I do, but how about just the link to the article in question? I get so confused when I open the thread and start to read...I can't figure out where the "original" authors words end and YOUR point of view starts.

I agree with your suggestion - a link to the original article is the best way to go - it's usually much easier on the eyes to read the article at its original website than as a long copy/pasted post on a message board.

Then along with the link, post your own personal arguments/opinions/comments. If what you have to say about the article/topic is interesting and thought-provoking, people will be more inclined to actually read the article you're commenting on.

I put my vote in on the side of posting both the link AND the article. I find it easier to read articles as part of the thread. Most often, if there is just a link, I skip the thread and move on to the next one. There's so much information that is "handy" I tend not to bother to click to the links.

Take a look. The threads with just links seem to get fewer responses than those were the whole article is posted. (Not a scientific study, just what I remember noticing over time.)

I have to agree with cheyenne...I'm either somewhat lazy or I am impatient...if it's not right there I won't bother...

Links can become outdated in a day.
For a long article I suggest posting a ling to the entire thing and doing some editing.

Depends on the length if you ask me.

While I'm new to this forum, It's my standard practice in online political discussions to post pertinant sections then link to the whole article.

It also gives fair warning to the length of posts that may come later in the thread.

Points well taken.

Somebody pissed in my cheerios this morning.

I should have known something was up with me when I felt the need to argue...I've been battling a migraine headache all day.
