So I had thought of a fantasy version of this but then realized it could go a more serious route, so Instead I came up with this sci-fi idea:
Picture this:
Woman calls her boss up: “hey gonna be in a bit late, I’m pregnant. Probably not yours. Nah, I’ll keep it.”
Cut to an older man fucking a young woman for all he’s worth.
“Have my baby you little slut, get knocked up with my baby!”
She rolls her eyes: “yeah yeah, that’ll cost ya a bit extra.”
Cut to a classroom:
Teacher comes in and addresses a bunch of young women:
“All right girls, you all are in your last year of High school so time to get pregnant! Hopefully this is your alls first time. Remember, I don’t need the details of how but, baring medical issue, you need to get pregnant before the end of the year to pass AP Bio.”
“Think I’ll have my boyfriend knock me up.”
“I think I’ll go with the basketball coach.”
“…math tutor. What? He’s cute and smart as hell.”
“Stepbro. I can get off trash duty for a month.”
So, a world where pregnancy is no big deal. In this world, if you get pregnant, the zygote embryo or uterus can be safely removed and raised within an artificial womb until it comes to term and then birthed by a machine.
You can either claim your baby or let it be raised by the state/adoptive family.
Maybe the tech was to fight difficult pregnancies or a common disease maybe it was to help repopulate a planet, but it’s here and life has changed forever.
So what kind of stories could be told in such a setting? Do people have babies just to see what would happen (like maybe a woman has multiple lovers to see who gives her the cutest baby but winds up staying with her current boyfriend but takes the cutest one with her)? Do some people virtue signal by sticking to traditional birth?
This is more a brainstorming thread. I actually don’t have a full idea for the setting.
