A World Untamed...

OOC; Sorry again, but I was afk for a while. damn work. and about that chocobo being a ripoff and not working thingy? EVERYTHING in life is a ripoff so lay off

IC; "WARK (did I hear someone mention me?) Wakarue" The chocobo flew in from the sky and looked around. Looking at the new two, he said "WARK (I don't think we've met. my name's Cryo)"

ooc: Cryo, People are getting confused.

Just try to make it more...Swords and Sorcery-ish please.

Ooc: I just wanted to say that since I got Sara in before the Roland's stop character post, she is an official character now, and I don't believe a bear is any sort of fantasy rip off. Well, except for that one movie.. the bear.

Sabaka pulled on the reigns gently. The horses came to a shuffling stop and looked up ahead. Travelers seemed to be in the road. He hadn't seen the likes of them before. He saw a chocobo was with them. How strange, he had never really seen on alive before, however he has had many a dinners consisting of chocobo something. It wasn't that bad with a little salt.
"What ho, who comes here?" one called, looking in his direction. He smied, and nodded, giving the common salute to elders. It was respect to do this, and Sabaka didn't want anymore trouble today, his shoulder hurt bad enough.
"I do say, you seem to be a weary traveler," one of the females asked him. She was quite cute, but he didn't let anything on. He knew if he showed any interest, within the next hour he could possibly be married to her. Marriage was not one of his priorities.
The chocobo gave a schreeching squark and sent a number of birds from out of their nests. Sabaka kept his ears open and his eyes aware.
"What is in the wagon?"
"Supplies," Sabaka said," I am a merchant, selling my trinkets from town to town."
One of the men stroked the horses mane gently.
"There's been word of a raid on a nearby villagers wagon, you haven't heard anything about that, have you?"
Sabaka closed his eyes just for a second. He cursed blue heaven. A militia party, why didn't he see it before. Each of them were armed to the teeth, he had no idea how to get out of this. Think fast...
"I have, a wagon with three bandits rode off as I stopped in a nearby brook. It was looking at a dead bear. I didn't stuck around to see them finish, but I did talk with them. They said they were heading north, to a small village."
One of the men's eyes grew wide. Sabaka had sparked his interest, but the others didn't seem convinced.
"Might I take a look inside," the one by the horses asked. He ignored the story altogether.
"I would rather you not, my associate is in there, and he needs to be alone to make a certain incantation. One small mistake, and we could all possibly die."
That didn't phaze them either, damnit. They kept getting smarter. There was a time when he could talk the people into giving him the wagon, but now he was trying to make lie after lie to keep his ass out of a sling.
It was failing miserably.
"This chocobo is for sale," he said, glancing back at it. The chocobo seemed interested in a small fly buzzing around his head. The man raised a crossbow halfway between the chocobo and himself.
"For twenty gold we could kill him and cook him for you, giving you a nice change from dried meat and such."
They wanted him off of the wagon. If he could just get to the crossbow at his side, this might be a fair fight after all.
"We just need the gold in advanced, some people just eat and run, you know how it is. Hop on down here, and we could discuss it further."
He barely heard the man. On instinct, he loaded the crossbow, and kept it out of sight. There still might be a small way out of here without a fight, but it seemed less likely by the second.
"I am afraid I have family waiting for me in the next village, and need to be there straight away. Thank you for your offer, but I have to decline."
He took up the reigns in one hand. The man by the horses grabbed the strap, and held it firmly.
"I insist," the words were like fire in his mouth.
Sabaka looked at the man, his eyes burning into the man's skull. Then, he leaned back and smiled the biggest smile you could ever see. With that he jumped down, the crossbow revealed on a second after himself.
"Well, how could I say no to that," he raised the crossbow up to the man's chest and fired.

Inside the wagon, he heard everything. Rocky felt the springs jump slightly as Sabaka jumped off. He cursed himself, a fight was breaking out. He nudged Sara awake, getting together a crossbow and a sword. He really hated fighting, he really did, but he hated dying even more. Besides, someone had to protect Sara. It's a mother's job to do these things.
He jumped out of the wagon just as Sabaka shot the closest man. Rocky kneeled down, and shot the nearest man he could find in the leg. No real damage, just a smart pain for a while. Sara ran between his legs and out to the fight. Rockingham dropped the crossbow.
"No, Sara, come back," but it was too late. She was already on top of one of the women, her arms and legs pinned to the ground. 240 pounds of bear ferciousness will do that to a lady. Rockingham came up to them, and gave Sara a pat on the head.
"Good girl," he ran up to another man. His mace was out, and swinging wildly, not exactly a big problem. Rocky used the dull side of his sword to hit the hand that the mans was swinging the mace with. The weapon flew into the nearby bushes, and the man was down in pain. Rocky thumped him upside the head with the hilt of his sword. The rest of the men were dealt with by Sabaka. A good and decent fighter, if ever there was one. He could see blood on his shirt, but none of it was his. Rocky nodded to Sara, and she let up the poor female.
"Who sent you?" Sabaka asked. The girl pointed north, smoke poured up faintly from the ground. Rocky didn't know of any town this deep in the forest. He never was that keen on directions or anything, but he knew where towns were, and where they weren't.
in either case, the woman ran off before he could find out more. Rocky piled the bodies of Sabaka's victums alongside the wagon. Rockingham's enemies had already left or where wincing from their wounds and sulking off. Sabaka touched each of their heads briefly, bringing them back to life. He told them all to run, or he would kill them next time.
With little more than a scream they were off. Rocky looked about the field, hoping to find a doll or a toy or maybe a...
"Chocobo?"
He looked at the yellow devil. What a wonderful animal. Graceful, and elegant. He had always loved birds, especially ones big enough to ride. The great pheonix was his favorite, he never missed a story with a phoenix in it.
"Can we keep it?" he asked, going over to it. He petted the chocobo's head. The chocobo seemed very nice. Lots of creatured were nice to him, he supposed they knew how nice he was, so they were nice back.
"We already have a bear, what more do you want."
"A chocobo," Rocky said, hugging the creature. It squawked slightly, but didn't move away.
Sabaka flew up his arms in surrender, "Tie him to the back. We will keep him until we can find a home for him, but he's not going to be a pet."
Rocky smiled brightly, he could live with that. He got a long rope, with a harness on it. He didn't want the poor thing to be choking on the rode. Rocky tied it up along with his donkey and Sabaka's horse. They had a wild assortment of animals now. All they needed was a dog, and a cat, and a bird maybe. No wait, they already had a bird. Rocky picked some grass and placed it in a bucket on the back of the wagon, in case the chocobo got hungry. On long trips he got hungry all the time. It was common curtesy to be nice to animals, everyone knew that.
"Sara," the bear was sniffing at one of the bloody spots on the ground. Quickly she ran up the wagons steps inside. Rocky followed her. Oh, it was such a happy day.

OOC: None taken, Roland. But I did need someone to play Fuge. After all, the monkey has been trying to kill Lokken since he usurped the throne.

"Thanks!" exclaimed Lokken to Shadow just before turning to Cryo as he announced his name. "Hi! I'm Lokken", he said enthusiastically.

Gaia

I bounded through the forest, evilness, or something of the like was making my dear Bear cringe.

He just drove harder. The flashes of light that we were producing caused our path to linger green.

I got tired of it all, I knew I would pay for this, but my brother called for me again. Something wasn't right.

Uttering the words of the forest, they kindly granted me a clear path.

A huge boom made my entrance, my eyes wild, I spotted my brother.

Leaping off the bear, I didn't want to startle them, a vine wrapped around my wrist and I was lifted to them.

I was quite angry, for knowing the way they were talking, I knew what everyone said in this forest.

"I believe you are speaking my name."

I humbly bowed.

This part of the forest held no light, and it was making it hard for me to see.

I raised an arm and asked the forest to bend their branches, sunlight poured in, radiating over me as if a cooling waterfall.

"Brother, my absence was required, something...someone, is troubling me."

I looked at the others. "Welcome to my home."

Brendan:

"Your not the only one who's been bothered sis! We all felt whatever it is too... N' Dragon lady over here seems to think its death or something..." Brendan said as he walked up to his sis and absently scratched Bear's head.

Shadow

Sunlight began to come into the area as the trees began to part for it to enter. This woman was definatly starting to interest me. It would seem that Brendan was right about her being able to help us with these strange happenings. Just hoped so, we had already wasted a lot of time trying to await her return.

Keeping my distance out of fear the bear wouldn't be friendly towards me, I tell her, "Thanks for the welcome. My name's Shadow. This is Lokken, Kitt, Drusilla, and Cryo."

After taking the time to quickly introduce her to all of us, I again started to wonder what Kitt had meant about Death. Well, that was just one of many things that I was wondering about. We needed answers, and we need them soon.

Kitt

Looking up but not getting to her feet, kitt says simply,

"There is no death. I can feel it. The pain, the suffering that can be relieved and escaped by the death. Death is, well, it's simply not there. I don't know why, but no one can die."

Touching the centre of her chest, where a dragons heat lays,

"It hurts bad, here." a small silver tear ran down her cheek.

Ooc: for a world untamed, it sure has been pretty tame lately...

Sabaka stopped the wagon just before nightfall. He got down, grabbing his knapsack. Throwing it over a shoulder he made his way to the dry creek bed. A fire was made within minutes. A few roll out beds were supplied as well. He wasn't one to let Rockingham and Sara sleep in a dingy old wagon. Wagons were for supplies, not friends.
Rockingham came out with Sara. They both looked tired and restless, although for some odd reason Sara's fur was perfectly combed. Rocky must have spent hours. Sabaka didn't give it much thought though, they had been spending months on the road alone, he deserved a friend.
A squawk came from the back of the wagon.
Maybe two as well.
Sabaka grabbed a tuff of grass and went to the back. The chocobo raised it's head, looking curiously at it's surroundings. There was fear in it's eyes as he came forward. He held out the grass friendly, hoping for some sort of compromise. The chocobo lowered it's head to eat. There, not bad at all, he might even like the poor little thing, if it didn't try to hurt anyone. Stories were rampant of chocobo attacks, although he thought they were old wives stories, to think something this small and kind could ever do a hateful act was ridiculous.
He took the harness off of the bird, who instinctively walked over to the fire. It's large foot landed squarely on his own, and he held back a searing scream of pain. Shit, that hurt. Maybe they weren't so kind after all.
Wincing he walked back to the fire. The chocobo had already laid down beside Rocky, the bear on the other side, it's head in his lap. He was just a messenger from the animals, a regular Noah. Sabaka took out a canteen of water and took a few gulps. He hnaded the rest to Rocky. It was a long night, and tomorrow things would pick up.
He rolled between the thick warm blankets and looked up at the nights sky. So beautiful, he could almost reach up there and touch them, but he dare not. To even touch something so beautiful would mean to destroy it. One misplaced star and it's beauty would be marked, flawed.
Sleep came soon enough, but Sabaka wished to see the stars just a little bit more. They were so pretty.

The chocobo kept nestling up against his ear. Rockingham tried to shoo him off, but he was persistant. In a fit of defiance he leaned far back and grabbed some dainty flowers and vines. He placed them near the chocobo's head.
"There, are you happy?"
The chocobo smiled something awful. Rocky had to smile as well. He loved the cute little feathery thing, but it had to learn manners. Sara knew all about manners, she was quietly chewing on some jerky, her head resting in his lap. She knew how to behave, but Ferdy didn't know just yet.
Ferdy? Was that her name? He wasn't sure, it just sort of came to him, he thought about her and then... boom a name came. He smiled, Ferdy did fit the girl. She was so pretty, if not for her manners. The food was only three feet away, she couldn't get it for herself.
As if she heard his thoughts, Ferdy nestled his ear again. He shook his head. No food for her, she was going to have to learn to get it herself. The face on the chocobo was hurt, to say the least, but Rocky kept his stern edge. He pointed diligently towards the flowers and vines and grass, showing Ferdy how close it all was. Why, even if she leaned her head just to the right a bit she could grab it herself.
Ferdy stood up, walking over to the foods of the forest. She would take a beakfull, go to her spot and then drop it. After doing this seven or eight times she had created quite a pile of food. Satisfied, she sat down, and commenced chewing. Rocky was so happy, he hugged Ferdy around her small neck. She cooed a soft chocobo coo and went back to eating.
Life was good. After that, Rocky himself fell asleep, but not before making sure his animals were all safe and taken care of. His mother responsibilities were doubled now, and he had to take care of his children.

Gaia

I knew this dragon-woman, though, my years and years of life....some blended into each other. My body seemed to be refreshed as the sunlight beat down upon my skin, the dewey glow returned to it.

A vine, from my command, wiped the tear from her beautiful face.

"It is a rare pleasantry to meet you all...and as for death, it is not allowed in my woods...unwelcomed that is, but the pain...it is tremendous. I feel it too. "

Going to my 'brother', not so much a brother, but a child whom, isn't a child anymore, but I have grown to love him dearly. I gave him a hug.

Bear was becoming restless, he could feel it too. I couldn't take the time to calm him, clearly saying a few words of the totemic druid, he vanished into my staff.

"My years have brought me to conclude that I have not seen or felt anything like this, I do not know what it is, but I can tell you where it is at this precise moment. I can feel every living throb in this forest."

(ooc....who is this death taker...um...you know what I mean...who are we chasing?)

ooc: Ravenlofts charicter, I dont know why he hasnt posted much lately, Im kind of waiting on mistress, It seems some people I was counting on to be around have failed to be.....

erggh, Damnit.....
I need a recap of who's with who, Im going to liven things up here....

OOC: I was away for the weekend. Chill Rolland buddy, chill. :)

Brendan:

Gaia stepped in and gave Brendan a hug. He returned it with an even sigh. Though he didn't care to much for the druidic nonsence she had tried to instill in him from day one he had always seen her as a brilliant sister, and deep down, he loved her very much. He shook off the burgeoning emotions with a grunt and pushed away. Showing that sort of affection wasn't much like him and it felt kinda odd. Why couldn't he just get her to howl at the moon with him from time to time!? Stepping back, he brushed himself off and made to regain his composure.

Robert Sith:

Nearly an hour had passed since Robert had sent his zombiefied minions out upon the land to wreak havoc. He stood in the arch way to a balcony of his tower to watch the horrible display. In the distance there were fires scorching far off houses, grain feilds, and the like. Every now and then, Robert swore he heard shrieks of pain, but that could have simply been his imaginings. He tapped the gold banded ruby ring he wore upon his right hand with impatience. Whirling about to glare at the starkly impassive embodiment of death he held captive, he growled. "Why... Why do you let this happen Celeste? It would be so easy to end the madness..." Robert fell silent. It was useless, he was using far too humane a method of coersion... "Very well... I have time... And I will get what I want..." Robert came back to set in front of Deaths cell, returning the beings solid stare.

Shadow

Nodding at all that what was being said, I told them, "If what little we know is true, then we had best get started on fixing things around here. All of us meeting like this must be more then a simple coincidence." Maybe it was me, but I kept thinking it wasn't safe for us to stay here much longer. Then again, in my business, you always have to keep suspicious to stay alive.

Sage

OOC: OH! I"M sorry...I've had sort of a writers block with a few threads, and I"m not sure what to do with them at the moment, so this wont be a long post sweetie! Snuggles

IC:

Sage slowed Timothy so that she could ride along Falkner, which was good idea considering she did not know which way she was going yet. She glanced over at him and smiled,"I guess your fun was spoiled for the night?"

He grinned and nodded," I am sure though, I could find some more fun along the way." His eyes strayed over her, she grinned and winked.

In a dash of fire and glaze it was morning. The new dawn splashed into the cold night air, calling forward a simple and sweet rationality of life. It breathed into the world, making everything come out of it's dormile repricosity and take on life, as if anew.
Sabaka just wanted to go back to bed.
The chocobo, however, had other plans. It was very forthcoming in trying to get him up. First nudging him gently, in which Sabaka simply fluttered away the approach. Then a soft kicking in the ass. Sabaka actually became awake at this point, but seeing as he had never liked getting up with the sun, he rolled over, attempting to go back to sleep. After that, the chocobo snapped in the air above his head. He flew up, grabbing the chocobo by the neck. His hand did not squeeze, and except for the alarm, the chocobo was all right. It was, however, not exactly a good idea to scare a chocobo. In an instant it rushed off, trampling over Sabaka as it did so. A mash of blankets, chocobo and Sabaka all rolled crashing into each other through the camp. They entangled into a small pile of wood that Sara had been piling neatly since early dawn. With that, Sara decided to join the party, or was rather joined by force. She got scrambled up into the chaos, biting at just about anything that got near her teeth. Fortunately enough, it was mostly the twigs and sticks and things, until of course Sabaka's leg got itself wrapped around.
It stopped abruptly, hitting the side of the wagon with a loud thump. Sabaka saw stars for a moment, he looked up wearily, chocobo ass and bear fur clogging most of his vision.
Rockingham looked at him from the fireplace, a skillet in his one hand, with the fresh smell of bacon wandering towards them.
"Good morning," he called.

Rocky looked at them all with a bit of motherly strictness. He didn't approve of having his children all riled up before breakfast. Sabaka wasn't always the most dependable of people when it came to children.
"Now now, come eat some breakfast," he said to them all. Each untangled themselves from the blankets and twigs and each other. What was left behind was nothing less than a mess. Sabaka picked it all up, and hurled it into the fire. Breakfast was simple enough, some bacon, and fried up potatoes. Of course he took out beans and carrots for the chocobo who ate heartily as well.
When breakfast was done, Rocky cleaned everything and got it all packed. There wasn't much to be done along these lines, except for the skillet and one blanket, they were already set in their adventures.
Rocky hustled Sara into the wagon, and went to saddle up Ferdy. Ferdy didn't look too happy about this.
"You don't want to be saddled up?"
The chocobo shook it's head.
"But we might lose you, then what kind of a mother would I be."
The chocobo shook it's head again.
"Come on," yelled Sabaka, getting up into the wagon.
Rockingham walked over to the door, looking back at Ferdy.
"All right, until we get into town you can walk behind us, but don't stray off, you hear."
Ferdy nodded thankfully, and took her position behind the wagon.
"They grow up so fast these days," he said in a silent whisper. He grabbed Sara's brush and began to comb her.

Gaia

I ruffled Brenden's hair, he didn't like that too much.

I seemed to be his opposite. I glared at him, the glare he knew that meant, 'I could be doing worse.'

"I know a safe place, but there is a disturbance near the river, I can feel it."

"And death, an all too dear acquantance, I can't feel where it is. " Closing up the sunlight, I suddenly got dim, " we have to check something out, humans are in the forest."

Shadow

OOC: Sorry it's so short, kinda in a rush.

IC: Nodding towards the woman, I tell her "You seem to have a better idea of what to do around these parts, so I'll be willing to help." Just hoped we were making the right decisions on all of this.

Drusilla watched with interest as the woman showed signs of storn druidic powers. She would have to question her for Drusilla herself was a druid as well. She doubted however she possessed that much power.

kitt

Kitt watched, and listened, but said nothing. She wondered if these humans had any concept of the great need, or the potential danger of death being missing from the balance of life. Death was the begining of new life, without death, there was no new life. Without an end, there could be no begining. She began to remember the stories taught to her, the legands of how the death was held captive, and the living dead walked the land. She shivered at the thought, desperately trying to contain her need to be free of this forest and out where she could see the sky. The shadows were no place to be when the dead walked free.

Zombies:

Caked with blood, sinew clinging between rotten teeth and gnarled fingers, they advanced across the land. A wall of decaying flesh, impenetrable, unstopable... A forest lay in their path, but still they trudged on. Magic warned the keeper of the forest to their comming.
