Benny drank the coffee, listened, and watched his wife 'magic' up her toast with butter. Sometimes he felt like he was dreaming, and would wake up whenever she did things like that. But he blinked a few times, and again faced the fact that his reality was a very different one then most others had to accept. “Right now is fine. If needed, work can call me in the present, where I am guessing satellite phones get pretty poor reception a few hundred years ago. And with the magic of a phone, we can just call if there is trouble. Besides, as exciting as it would be to see the ruins before they were ruins, they might have some Mayan's that didn't care for us still using them. Spears can be just as dangerous as bullets.”
Ben got up, and went to to the stove to remove the bacon that was done, and scramble up the eggs. It wasn't needed, he was sure that one of the magical folk in the kitchen could repair anything, but he needed to feel useful at that moment. Here he was, a police officer, sworn to serve and protect, and he was being protected by two witches from a future he could not see.
He dished out the food onto three plates, and handed one to Max, then returned to his bride with a plate in each hand, setting one in front of her. “Thanks for cooking breakfast love,” he kissed her forehead as he sat down, not caring that Max was there to see his affection for his niece. That man seemed determined to drop by whenever, and so Benny decided that his unannounced visits would not interfere with he and Jacky.
He took a bite, and moaned his approval, smiling up at Jacquelyn. “Delicious dear, thank you.” He ate some more, then addressed his uncle in law once more. “So are my plans suitable to you Max? How much safer from society can a man get then in a remote rain forest, with a witchy wife, and cell phone?”
