A Wetback Is A Person In Your Neighborhood.

you know why those idiots keep coming to this country? because if they do something wrong, they get food water, a place to stay and clothes on thier backs for the rest of thier lives without lifting a finger. Some people call it prison in america, I call it the sheraton hotel.

if we did like some of the other countries ie killing the rapists, murderers and pedophiles in this country, people wouldn't want to do those crimes, and our taxes would be lower. also it would help world hunger. and keep the world population down... JMHO.

States are borrowing big money to provide welfare, education, and incarceration for Mexicans. The local paper seems to believe taxpayers will be okay increasing sales taxes a penny for this and a penny for that, to provide for the needs of these people. A penny more to expand bus service, a penny more to build housing for them, a penny more to the indigent medical service, plus increase school taxes to educate their kids. And their kids already sulk and pout at not being eligible for state and federal loans, grants, and scholarships to college. ITS DISCRIMINATION, MAN!

I's say it was time to end his recidivism, with a Smith and Wesson.

I have a hunch illegals are gonna be part of our stimulus package for lawyers. You wait, as soon as we get around to immigration 'reform' every one of them will get a free lawyer you pay for.

Hmmmm

I'll address illegal immigration as a topic, and limit my comments about the original post. He deserves the weapon.

Of course, one can't agree with criminals immigrating to our country. . .

But, "wetbacks" or illegal immigrants come for a reason. A reason based upon economics, supply and demand, the almighty dollar and the America dream. As long as they are willing to work for small wages, and as long as a majority population is willing to break the law to pay them, they will come. The "wetback" isn't the reason for the problem. I think it's deeper. Many in our country our unwilling to work in the fields in 100 degree sweltering heat picking, "pickles" (not called cucumbers by the "wetback").

Yes, reform is needed. We as a country can't continue in this manner. Our hospitals pay for babies of illegals by the droves (free health care), our schools educate the illegal (I estimate 20% of the students at my HS were illegal--free education and school lunches), our jails give free room and board to the illegal criminal.

A Smith and Wesson isn't the answer. Who do you point it at? Ourselves?

Yes, I'm the great-granddaughter of a former illegal immigrant. We were different, and my family broke the grip of poverty by hard work and intelligence.

Illegals come her for the Dream, can you blame them? We make it so easy for them.

The answers are not as easy as building a fence, or loading a weapon; nonetheless, I do agree that the bastard in the original post deserves the weapon.

We didnt learn from the 1980 Mariel boat people Castro sent here. Most were the dregs of society: criminals, mentally ill, peasants mostly.

Dengue Fever has erupted on Key West. The other eruption is on the Tex-Mex border. None of the illegals are medically cleared.

What frosts my cake is the kids of illegals. The paper interviewed a Mexican girl recently; she and her family are illegals. She graduated high school in this county and is pissed that she doesnt qualify for any scholarships, grants, or student loans. She says she's discriminated against because of her status. Obviously she has no understanding of illegal. She already has the gimme entitlement attitude.

In Mexico you must carry and present ID, and illegal entry is a felony.

I dont see how the issue can be resolved without opening the borders to one and all or killing illegals. I expect the latter to happen. I expect vigilantes will terrorize them into fleeing.

Yes! We are on the same page regarding most this. Miracles never cease.

I agree, there is no entitlement. People should earn by hard work. My father didn't get a free ride (he was legal). He worked as a custodian, had a daughter and went to school until he graduated. We enable attitudes such as the above (a free ride). The things I saw at school were amazing, and the things my father used to talk about (he is an educator at public schools--and "used to" because we are estranged). Parents of learning disabled children who seek more disabilities so they can get a bigger check from the government. Outrageous, seems the more disabilities you have the bigger the check. I saw drug dealers at my school who drove a Lincoln Navigator, wore diamonds on their fingers, noses and ears and used FOOD STAMPS! It pisses me off.

The felony idea is much preferable, a felony for the one who hires and the illegal. Hit them seriously in the pocket. But I think the government is hesitant. Where does the cheap labor come from? Farmers will say they can't get crops out of the ground due of the expense. Food prices will increases. The powers currently in office will have yet another financial crisis. Although, at some point no, doubt many will get feed up, and we'll see lynchings and other acts of violence. I seem to recall a group who took up camp on the border intending to "Fuck over" any illegals who tried to cross.

Make the welfare recipients work for their free money!

A different issue.
I would not attempt to cross the border at this point--no way--it's hellish over there. I went to the dentist in Mexico as a child and teen, now most from the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) won't dare. I think it is going to get much worse before it gets better, and I see the eventual involvement of the American military. Many from my hometown feel the same.

One of the problems is the sanctuary cities. San Francisco is one, as is Los Angeles, and tyhere are others. Illegals who get arrested in those places are not reported to ICE. Basically, they ignore their status.

AZ seems to be doing something about it.

In the area of the western USA, where I live, there is a lot of agriculture and a lot of Mexican illegals work the fields. As has been noted in this thread, the farmers hire the illegals because the illegals are hard workers and don't make trouble (to stay under the radar.) The illegals also work cheap.

Unfortunately, along with the illegal workers come criminals from Mexico. If a Mexican criminal is caught doing something short of murder, he/she is deported back to Mexico, supposedly to serve time there. Unfortunately, there is a law, in at least some Mexican jursidictions, requiring that a mentally ill person be given treatment, not just incarceration. Many of the Mexican jurisdictions can't afford to pay for treatment of the mentally ill. So, the Mexican 'justice system,' dumps the mentally ill on the street. Many of the criminals then return to the USA anbd the cycle plays out again.

In the area of the western USA, where I live, there is an expert in the handling of mentally ill criminals. It's illegal to just shoot and kill a mentally ill criminal. That law is rigidly adhered to. However, a little known fact is that a mentally ill criminal will ALWAYS steal more chain than he/she can swim with. It's simply necessary to transport a mentally ill criminal to the edge of a substantial body of water, place chain within his/her reach and let matters proceed to a conclusion. We don't have a lot of nine times deported Mexican criminals in the area where I live. (When the feds come in, the denizens of Mex town tell them, "No hablo Inglez." When the feds switch to Spanish, the denizens of Mex town tell them, "No hablo Espanol.") We also don't have a lot of violent Mexican criminals preying on the inhabitants of Mex town.

The USA could do a guest worker program but it wont work cuz the illegals will always be cheaper and docile.

lots of frothing, here.

look, guys it's the FREE MARKET.

the soul of our nation.

it allocates goods and jobs rationally and morally according to supply and demand.

the alternative is to have a bureaucrat do it: X thousand workers go here; Y thousand go there. soviet style.

the market contains a job opening: pick tomatoes for $5 a day.

a native born American won't take that; it's less than his HOURLY minimum wage.

Jose Gonzales, from mexico, will come in and do the work. so long as he stays out of trouble, the gov'ts at all levels should defer to the market.

why should the gov't interfere with the FREE MARKET in labor by asking Joe G., as in Ariz, "do you have papers"?

Jose is here because his employer, and the others, big businesses want him here, and profit from his being here; Joe is of benefit to the State [see below] and Federal govts, and indeed to many consumers who like to buy cheap tomatoes.

virtually no one in Congress wants to eliminate the Jose's and the Josefina's., i.e. seriously alter the status quo.

JBJ and the minutemen can do all the agitating they want; it matters not. employers want Jose here, and pay what lures him here and keeps him here.

now, there IS a slight problem [see below] in that Jose's kids use the school system and Joe may be paying no school taxes (though he pays others).

well, jose's employer COULD pay Jose an extra dollar a day [forwarded to the State gov], ie. $6 a day, to cover schools and such. but he doesn' feel like it.

other taxpayers, John and Jane Doe pick up the tab. unfortunately they have little say, esp. at the federal level.

they can go with JBJ to an America First rally and get all riled up about the injustice, and offer their serivces at the border, but they can't affect the system. (low level politicians can cash in on their votes by talking the talk.)

it has just too many beneficiaries....

The truth, though, is alluded to in a December 2006 "Special Report" entitled "Undocumented Immigrants In Texas: A financial Analysis of the Impact to the State Budget and Economy," released by Carole Keeton Strayhorn, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Strayhorn, the mother of President George W. Bush's former press secretary, Scott McClellan, and an unsuccessful opponent of Texas Governor Rick Perry in the last election, offered this summary of her study:

"The absence of the estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants in Texas in fiscal 2005 would have been a loss to our gross state product of $17.7 billion. Undocumented immigrants produced $1.58 billion in state revenues, which exceeded the $1.16 billion in state services they received. However, local governments bore the burden of $1.44 billion in uncompensated health care costs and local law enforcement costs not paid for by the state."

Illegal immigrants crossing our border are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of causing trouble. A TV station (WSB-TV) in my adopted home town of Atlanta GA ran a 2 part series on potential terrorists entering this country over the border with no problem at all.

If this isn't food for thought, I don't know what is.

I grew up in So Cal and went to school with many Latinos. In my neck of the woods, a lot were there before 1849, and many were only forth generation. So I understand the issue of civil rights.
I grew up in Orange Grove country and for many years we had a Barcero camp that filled with orange grove workers in season, then they went on to other fields. There was a lot of graft and exploitation of the workers by the labor contractors, but it was a hell of a lot better than being in Mexico. They had no problem filling the slots with eager Mexican farm lads.

But without secure borders we can not enforce our laws and have to put up with undesirable persons easily entering our country to do harm, that is a pressing security issue since W gave us the War on Terror.

Border patrol has very little in the way of aerial surveillance. They only protect a portion of the border, and then they are understaffed for all the bullshit paperwork.

McCrystal would shit to see the gaps in our perimeter in a time of war, such as now. He's seen first hand what it is like to repel invaders in a war zone. with 2,000 miles to cover we'd need 10 Divisions of Cavalry. Unfortunately all our troops are busy trying to Save South East Asia for Halliburtion.

I can make your identical argument for sucking dick or anything; its a nasty job but someone's gotta do it.

If you and Obama want the land filled with little brown people CHANGE THE FEDERAL LAW.

The first post is about a recidivist criminal.

A recidivist criminal could be a US citizen and many are.

He isn't typical of most illegals, nor would he be typical of most US citizens.

The question should be: "What do you do about hard-working illegals who want to be US citizens?".

The words inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
' With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

are no longer true, and haven't been true since the 1930s when the US denied entry to thousands of refugees from Nazi Germany.

We have a similar problem in the UK but not on the same scale. Legal immigrants from within the European Union outnumber the illegals, but we haven't really grasped the problem, let alone produced a solution.

The USA has provisions for hardworking aliens: go to the American Consul or Embassy and make application for a visa.

But that would put you at the end of the line wouldnt it?

And they'd check your health and criminal history. Not good.

I hope there's a special place in Hell for do-gooders like OGG.

1) It's not a matter of what i want: it's a matter of what the lettuce growers and the state and federal gov't want. supply of cheap labor.

2) No change in federal law is needed. Being in the US w/o documents is NOT a federally defined *criminal act*; you don't go to jail, you're simply deported.

That was the point of the AZ law, to create a state definied criminal act (being in AZ without docs). I don't think it will fly, but in any case,

McCain and other Republicans and AZ big businesses want the cheap labor, so the "create a state-level defined crime" *for the worker* is not going to solve the problem.

WHY, because this allegedly harsh law has little by way of penalites for businesses; they may lose PERMITS!! (which they can get back if they sign a paper promising to do right!). No fines, no jail.

The brown folks are here, and coming more, because the people who count, i.e. pay for Senate races, want them. The problems suffered by local governments and the lower middle class are just a minor irritant, which federal politicians thus far are able to ignore.

Most of the posts in this threadf seem to assume that the 'Mexicans' want to be in the USA. (Many of the Mexicans are from Central or even South America.)

Many of the Mexicans DON'T want to be in the USA. However, they really can't make a living in Mexico. The system down there is such that the rich want the poor to remain poor. (It's complex and it would take books to examine the reason why.) Many of the poor Mexicans come to the USA ilegally, in order to send money back to Mexico to try to build a life down there. Then, after many years, the ilegals find that they have built a life in the USA and there's really no place for them back in Mexico. In the meantime, they are poorly paid, poorly treated and they form a permanent underclass here.

There4 are solutions to the problems, but the solutions are hard and nasty. Worse yet, most of the hard and nasty parts apply to the rich Mexicans and those who hire the ilegals here.

In the 20s and 30s Florida was notorious for its prison gangs; prisoners harvested crops, cleared swamps, mined phosphate, and built railroads. Contractors leased convicts from the state or local sheriff. Even children served on the chain-gangs.

Back in 1994 I prevailed upon a judge to sentence my youngest daughter to a wilderness camp. The camp headquarters was 20 miles from the nearest paved road, and the camp was miles further back in a swamp accessible by boat only. It was futile to escape because there was no place to escape to. And there she stayed.

We could warehouse Mexicans at all kinds of remote places...Fort Jefferson on the Dry Tortugas or Alcatraz Island. There are all kinds of places. Put them there and let them rot.

Conditions in Mexico are irrelevant to the issue. Illegal entry into the USA is a criminal act....period. Let one of these wetbacks infect us with cooties and people will shoot them like dogs.

You're trying to solve the problem of people running out of a burning building by shooting some of them down. No matter how many you shoot, it's still better than being burned alive. You need to put out the fire, not shoot the people running form the fire.

I would venture to say that not one person in this thread, aside from myself, know what 'la caja' means. La caja is one of the root causes of the problem.
