a voting question--not a rant--a real question

It used to be when we voted twice, we'd get a page saying that we had already voted. But not now. Sometimes, I forget if I've voted or not. So, does the system catch that and correct it? I was getting ready to vote on Ange's Snow Queen and I think I may have done so this morning, but not sure, and I really want to vote on that lovely piece of work, but not be a cheater. Yes, I worry over things like this. lol

Edited to add: I just thought of another question. I was looking at who is giving feedback and how much and so on. I noticed that it's just not me who has dropping numbers. I've probably given 250-275 feedbacks and the number drops back down every so many days. I'm missing about 50 feedbacks. Could that many people be deleting my comments? And deleting other readers' comments? How do you feel about having your comments deleted, especially if you've offered some constructive and kind feedback?

I think you should feel free to vote on my poem as many times as you like. Especially if they're 5s. :p

Look at it this way. Extra 5s on that poem will make up for the 1s some meanie gave me on other poems.

I think now it lets you vote as many times as you want, but only counts your vote once

Check out my edit.

I'll vote again, or maybe it's not again. :)

I was in the same predicament on someone's poem today too Eve, didn't know whether to vote not sure if I had already voted or not...

If you didn't vote, and now don't, the poem will never get either benefit of your 5.

If you did vote, and you vote again, it'll stick for a while until the bit-munchers come through and nuke them both.

In the longer term, your vote (or non vote) will matter less and less, so I think you are better off going for it and voting again.

Both? I need to keep better track of these things. I need to read the poems from the top of the list down, commenting and voting as I go. I'm just not organized. I tried organized crime once and what a catastrophe that was.

Heck! don't talk to me about multiple votes I keep making multiple comments - multiple comments - comments.

:p

Thank you all for voting, if you voted, however many times you voted or not voted. And Eve? Feel free to complain in my public comments any time. :D

I'm complaining in yours tomorrow. I have to go to sleep now so I can be semi-coherent when it's time to get up...at 5. My life is so drab.

You can vote?

Honestly, thought the double-vote muncher always left one of the votes if it found a bunch of clones.

Pure hallucination on my part but...

Since the muncher doesn't know which vote is real, it eats'm both (all).

Based on observation, the muncher tends to err on the side of overzealousness, since I now have a few poems with zero votes.

(Our fish friend used to have some good rants on the disappearing votes phenomenon.)

My real theory is that it's bit-rot pure and simple..

Yes... I've seen about 200 or so fall off my comment total over the months, sometimes like 30 a day or so. Seems like a lot of deletions in such a short period of time. Made me wonder if maybe they don't drop the real short comments... lol.

Wish I could find enough profound schtuff to say to post 200 comments. I'm a sucky feedbacker.

Oh, so that's why the public comments number fluctuates so much. I've noticed YDD's comments go up and down the most, but I thought it was some sort of software error—now, knowing that it's not, is sort of... dismal.

That's what we do. Just wait until you've been here longer. We'll make you one of us. You'll freak out over all sorts of insignificant things. You'll forget all about fretting over your girl AVs and kitten ass, and you'll start crying about the font used on your poem. Then you'll start a thread about it, and newbies will laugh at you and make you cry. Ah, I look forward to that day. :)
