Okay so my wife and I have been planning on visiting my parents tomorrow. They live two hours north of us so we visit back and forth often, just not often enough.
We did some shopping today for them. Good German Foods they can't buy up there. Several pounds of Bratwurst, a pound of Jagdwurst and a pound of Leberwurst. Add to this a real treat, a half pound of Rohe Shinken. These are all in the fridge waiting to be packed into a cooler and hauled north.
In the smoker right now is a super lean Beef Roast which has been marinated with Garlic, Onion and Black Pepper. It is slow roasting and will be pulled when it is at that medium rare stage. This will be chilled then Vacuum Packed before being added to the pile. (You should taste this when it is thin sliced and put on a sandwich.)
Now my father has already asked me to bring the Metal Detector up with us as my mother lost a ring in the yard. That is already in the car and I'm sure it won't take me long to find the ring. My father has also mentioned a possible trip to a very remote beach, one that is hard to get to and therefore very rarely visited. Seeing as this is in an area that is called the treasure coast because of the sinking of several gold bearing ships I think I may bring the detector along.
All in all it should be a fun day.
