a true "Duh!" moment

"They turned him into a... a horny toad."

Ulysses Everett McGill: Why are you telling our gals that I was hit by a train?
Penny Wharvey McGill: Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains. Judge Hobbie over in Cookville was hit by a train. What was I gonna tell them, that you got sent to the penal farm and I divorced you from shame?
Ulysses Everett McGill: Uh, I take your point. But it does put me in a damn awkward position, vis-a-vis my progeny.

"I thought he turned into a horny toad." Still makes me laugh.

"O sisters let's go down
Lets go down, Come on down
O sisters lets go down
Down in the river to pray"

Delmar: Gopher Everett?
Everett: Thank you kindly, Delmar, but half a gopher would only wet my appetite without bedding her back down again.

"We thought you was a toad."

"What?"

"We thought ... you was ... a ... t o a d!"

I'm still shocked by what they did to the cows in that movie.

"I stole the watch knowing that he was fixen to turn us in."

"That don't make no sense!"

The Seventh Samari is a Kabuki Opera. It can be found on tape as a movie production.

About half way through the second time I saw it, I went, "OMG. I'm watching The Magnificant Seven

That was after they "loved him up".

Gotta give props to Holly Hunter too. I've been a huge fan of hers since Raising Arizona.

From what I understand, he was the only one who did his own singing for the movie. I watched an interview once and he said the reason why was that he had pictures of the Coen brothers with a donkey or something like that.

Tim Blake Nelson did the lead singing in one song. The other Soggy Bottom Boys song is preformed in it's entireness by a different band and lip synched, although both John Turturro and Nelson are pretty good singers. George Clooney on the other hand, can't sing to save his life.

If I remember correctly, George Clooney said in an interview that he could sing, being the nephew of Rosemary Clooney and all, but not well enough to perform a song that was sure to be the hit of the movie. He does do a fine job of synching the words to the music.

He buckdances okay, too. :D

Appalachia!

Some of the truest forms of genuine American entertainment came from those hills.

"Well aint this place a geographic oddity! Two weeks from everywhere!"

I couldn't go another day without quoting that line :D

The band is called Union Station. It's Allison Kraus' band.
