I couldn't help but laugh at Jack's expression when I said yes, he looked like a kid come Christmas morning. I wiped at my chin and at the beer that had escaped between my lips.
"That is wonderful Jen, of course I will go and make the purchases, that will be easy for me. Tell you what, I bet they have a website on that internet thingy indoors. We, or you, could go check, and you could print out your choices, with sizes. I can take the printout with me in the morning, after phoning to check they are in stock of course...That would also give me chance to make a choice or two of my own as well, the little surprises you spoke of..."
"Ok..." I replied a little hesitantly but still smiling. "As long you give me some guidelines on the kinds of things you want...or don't want...it sounds like a great idea..." Feeling my insides flutter a little at the mention of 'surprises'.
"I will go and fire up the computer now, then it will be ready for us when we go indoors Jen."
"Good thinking Jack..." I sipped a little more of my beer, suddenly aware that I was leaning across the table slightly towards Jack, almost always meeting his eyes when he spoke and then lowering mine ever so slightly when I replied. It was almost as if I was flirting with him...but I couldn't be...could I...?
I glanced up at the sky and saw the blue growing deeper and deeper in colour all the time. "I tell you what, I'll start the computer while you finish setting up the telescope...it'll be dark enough to use it soon...won't it...?" I asked, looking back over at him.
