Lord Deramore
1911-2006 erotic author

(From The Sunday Times News Review, page 12, August 27, 2006 but copied from the Daily Telegraph)

The 6th Lord Deramore was an example of that breed of mildly eccentric heriditary peer whose presence embellished the unreformed House of Lords, but his chief claim to fame was as a writer of erotic fiction. His first success after 46 rejections was a short story, A Touch of Bird Lime, which featured a heady mixture of sex and class: “Afterwards as they lay together, Peter caressed her slender flank and murmured, ‘You’re like a lovely sinuous kitten’. Sheila ran her fingers through his black hair and ached with love for him. ‘Your dinner party was a tremendous success,’ he said.”

Sadly much of his work remains unpublished but in 1997, aged 85, his first novel came out. Asked why he had written such a book at his age, he replied: “I’m old, so there is a not a lot else I can do.”

Maybe there is hope for some of us yet, if we keep writing into our 80s.

I'm sure he and Lord Dunsany are now sharing tea and crumpets in some celestial Starbucks........Carney

my only true wish is to be a supporter of those who do actually publish. (i can be likened to the worlds best girdle for novelists)
but don't wait too long...i dont think im going to make it to my 80's.

Yeah, Dunsany was never too long on the smut; it's just that he shares a title with the dearly departed from the OP.

On a similar note, I always thought it would be amusing to create an erotic parody of an HP Lovecraft story. The Dunwich Whore? The Call-Girl of Cthulhu? Re-Dominator? The possibilities are endless.......Carney

And please let us not forgetJohn Wilmot, second Earl of Rochester...

I'm going to be him for Halloween ;)

Oblimo, THANK YOU! I loved that story, and couldn't remember who had written it.
I really enjoy Dunsany's writing, and from what I've heard he was a typical bourgois shopkeeper, really.
