ooc:... don't ask me... all i know is i was hired to help someone embarrass someone who resides at the castle. he didn't tell me who it was... you can all decide that among yourselves if you feel it will add to the plot. now i'm waiting to see where "draggie" [winks at Nyte & Brenna] wants to take this story. and i hope it's soon because Sith's retelling of tales is slowly boring me to tears!... [ggls]

The gang was sitting in a tavern, the last mission a joke, logging itself in with the rest of the forgetable events in their lives. everyone was getting boored, not knowing what to do next. There were no quests available, no adventures to be had, and no fun to be made.
Their conversation was kinda loud, and one ohter customer in the tavern heard them. He rose from the bar and approached them. "I understand you are looking for an adventure..." The guy's voice was thin yet asserting. A hood covered most of his face, making it difficult to distinguish his race. He was obviously Human, elven, halfling, hybrid or a combination, as his face was tan and smooth.
"What you got in mind?" asked Vixen in her flaunty yet overpowering tone.
"This had better not be a waste of abilities, like the last one" Sith said to Vixen.
"Nothings a waste as long as you learn something from it" Rick was starting to act like a mentor. The third of personalities the group has seen so far. "Let's hear him out"
"My country is locked in war with a neighboring empire. The war has been going on for years, with no end in sight, no advantegous to be had."
"So you want soldiers? sorry, we don't do that." said Vixen. Garret gave her a sour look and encouregded the guy to go on.
"There is a legend among my people that a similer war fought thousands of years ago was ended with the help of an artifact known as the Necler radion bowl. The tales say that it was able to wipe out the evil forces instentaniously, leaving not a trace of them, and the battlefield uninhabitable for centuries. If it is found, then we could wipe out the Orc forces and finaly bring peace to our land."
"So all we have to do is find this... necler radion bowl. It sounds like a magical artifact of mass distruction. Why should I participate in it? what do we get in return?" Sith was taking the sceptical outlook of the quest.
"We are the mighty country of Levania! riches, fame and glory would be given to the adventerurs who bring the artifact home and end the war!"
"Necler, Nekler, Something tastes bitter about this artifact. Bitter, yet familiar." Rick was trying to dig something out of his mind. Kelvin only shruged.
Vixen said; "Let's go for it. At the very least, we could just not give it to them if we find reason not to."
"I'm with Vixen" said garret.
"You can count me in, though I am still skepticle." said Sith.
"You will get my acompynament and protection, even though you think you don't need it."
"I've followed My firend here through places a hundred times worse than the abyss without a second thought. Ain't no way I'm staying back" Rick and kelvin were inseperable.
"Great" said Vixen. "So where is this artifact supposedly located?"

"I do have another question. If the land stays unusable for centuries, what is the point in that artifact? It should be better to get something that did less damage to the land. I've heard of something that was H radion bowl, similar to the artifact you mentioned, but leaving the land in better shape... I don't know what the H stand for, maybe it is the initial for Horrible, or for Horace..."

He looked back and forth between the two slowly a moment, deciding just how much to tell the two. "There is a small farming village just north of here named Devington. It's on the outskirts of a kingdom known as Levania but it's in the Draconic Kingdom... my kingdom."
"Yeah, draggie? So what's the trouble there?" Nyte asked in her usual drab tone, hands propped on her hips.
"The problem there is... that well over a long time ago, the kingdom of Levania had a weapon called a... nuclear bomb, I believe it was."
Brenna and Nyte both blinked at him, the question coming to voice at the same time. "Huh?"
"Don't ask me. I was out adventuring the time it was used. I only recieved the news, and the land it was used on became deadly for anyone walking in it. They used it to kill whole armies. Unfortunately, it had some strange effects on the local wildlife, the ones that weren't killed in the blast, and since then odd things like what we're after pop up now and then."
"Oh? So we're out to clean up an after effect of this kingdom's stupidity? Why can't they clean up their own messes."
"Because... they're too warlike, they stop one major war and move another, from what I hear at least. Anyway, we should be moving. I don't want a dead civilian showing up..."

They spent another half of an hour arguing, but finally a unanimous agreement was reached to find the artifact.
"The tales of the artifact are most vivid in a remote village names Kaputnik (no referance or pun intended). I sugjest we start our search there." the elf was firm in the dicission, as if the group had allready decided on it.
"Ok. Let's go to Kaputnik!" said Rick.
Sith glared. "And who made you leader of this entourage?" he asked coldly.
"Yah, if anything, it should be Vixen. We allready know her qualifications, and we only met you!" atested Garret. Vixen blushed.
Rick gave garret a penetrating look. "One day you will understand. Untill then, My thoughts are Vixen's!" the last 4 words were spoken in unison with Rick by vixen. Surprised, she looked at him, who only gave her a wink. Those were a flawless, effortless, show of his mental powers, teaching everyone to watch hat they think around rick.

Vixen finally piped up... after shooting a penetrating glare at Rick. "I don't think we'll have to walk actually..." she said smiling sweetly.
"I umm... managed to umm... acquire some horses on our recent adventure..." She saw Sith look at her suscpiciously. "What??" She asked shrugging innocently... "it's not like I stole them... I just... borrowed them for awhile.

Rick smiled at Vixen's atestment. He hasn't ridden a hourse in years, not since his chocobo hatched. Come to think of it, Rick didn't believe that the rest of the gang even saw his chocobo yet! boy will they be surprised when they see him.
After some more mild arguments, the gang finally left the tavern. Morning was just peaking over the horizon (did they really spend that much time there?) so it was a good time to set out. Vixen brought around 5 hourses and a pony (kelvin's only 4 feet tall, remember?) and most of them started to mount. Rick just slapped the hind of his and kelvin's hourse, sending them galloping into the distance.
"What are you doing? do you know how hard it was for me to ste....borrow those hourses?"
"The'll go back to their masters. We have our own ride." Rick wistled, and waited. In the distance, high in the air, a black dot appeared. The dot grew, untill it appeared that a dark-furred gryphon was flying towared them. As it got closer however, everyone could see that it was infact a black feathered bird. Everyone's faces were in shock at the strange animal not native to their known world.
Cryo landed and gave a loud "WARK". Rick took out a vegtible of some sort from his pack and fed it to the bird. It's magnificent body rippled with muscles under the feathers. The face showed intelligent eyes that looked at Vixen, Garret, and sith with regognition.
"Wha..what is it?" asked Garret in awe.
"I'll explain on the way. Comeon!" Rick jumped into the modified saddle, kelvin behind him. With a word, the chocobo spread its wings, flaps up some dust, and rose into the air.

He smirked to Nyte for that. "Do I have any special powers to make a bird into a roast hen? My dear, you forget my other half in seeing only the human. I could very well turn you into a roast if I felt half the inkling." He smirked the way only a dragon could.
Nyte blinked then scowled. "Don't even think about it, or you'll regret you thought of it."
He laughed softly. "You are just too serious sometimes, you know that?"

the voice came out of nowhere, yet the source could not be found. Nyte looked around in fear, drago in confusion. No magic projected that voice, nore was there a creature present in any form, save the two.....

"Okay, now what the HELL was that?" Nyte looked at him both in anger and confusion. "Are you holding something out on us?"
He looked to Nyte, "No, I am just as concerned about this as you are, so I suggest that while we do travel, we do it under as much concealment as we can..."
"Oh seems like they already know what we're about, so what do you suggest then?"
A smirk and a shake of his head, "Well, this isn't magic whatever it is, and if it's not then most certainly it can be misled by magic, sooooo..."

He just looked at her a moment, "You know, amoung your powers you have one that I know you've used on Aric more then a few times... when you didn't want him to know things."
"Oh... wait... you mean...?" She grinned, this would be a fun thing for her to do. "Alright, sure... c'mon, but if I'm gonna do it, I'll need a little more concealment."
"Alright then, you'll have it." A nod, he turned and lead her in through the forest, the whole time of it sending quiet whispers of his plan through their thoughts.

He snarled, the tendons in his leg cut, he saw the blade coming, knew from the angle what she was aiming for... she was going for his neck to take his head. With that swing it was too late to stop, too late to dodge.... but he could take her with him.
A deep growl and his holy sword, Dragon's Rage, came unsheathed from his side, plunging up as surely as her sword plundged down... and in the same instant, they both hit their mark, blade cutting into his neck his own sliced through her heart.
