Next week is Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S. A day that traditionally, was a time for families to get together and spend some time visiting, catching up with each other, eating too much, watching football, and eating too much again. Recently, the shopping frenzy known as Black Friday, has spilled (backward) onto Thanksgiving Day, with retailers opening Thanksgiving evening.
We can bitch about the greedy retailers who attempt to pad their bottom line by drawing shoppers in on Thanksgiving evening, but we miss an important point. If no one showed up to shop, opening on Thanksgiving Day would cease to be a profit producing day for the retailers. The public is guilty of being just as greedy and just as inconsiderate of those retail staffers as their employers.
With this in mind, I ask you to please consider NOT shopping on Thanksgiving Day. Honestly, there is nothing in any store on Earth anyone needs that badly.
