This one is a little specific. Surfing is energy, and frantic, and sometimes fear. But there is a point...

I was surfing Mavericks after a storm. Mavericks is big waves. BIG WAVES. I had no business being out there on a borrowed stick. None at all. But there was this girl... And when I got dared, in front of Kelly, and she was going? No business at all, but there I was, paddling out into some of the most amazing curls I had ever seen. Movie big waves. And I was in the line up, then paddling. Paddling hard. Timing is everything in surfing, and I still wasn't getting it down right, but this time, on accident, it was perfect. I slid down a wall of water, and the wave curled over me. For the first (and one of the only times) I was in the tube. And everything went away, all the fear, all the noise, and it sounded like the first 20 seconds of this song.

Gotta be surfing.

Great story!! I went to Mavericks to watch the surfing contest. You can barely see anything from shore. The break is way out there and I think the surfers all got towed out.

We were dawn patrolling out. Sun hadn't even broken the hills yet. It was surreal, and I was terrified before and after. But during, and for a just a moment? Yeah. Spent the rest of the time getting rolled, heh.

Oh, and Kelly paddled over a kissed me for the first time after that run.
