A pretty cool event happened earlier today: a computer program called AlphaGo won its second match of Go (the game invented by the Chinese over 2500 years ago) with the human world champion. The program did so by playing the game against itself, then applying that knowledge to beat its human opponent. If it had done it once, you might have said it was by accident. Twice is no accident. There are three more matches in the challenge (for a $1 million total prize).
For more about the program etc., here's one site describing this. And here for information about the game and why it's difficult for a computer to win it.
