It probably answers itself, but if you were writing a story about two (full) sisters who become lovers, would you submit it to the Incest/Taboo category, or the Lesbian category?

Logic says the former but I haven’t found many “lesbian sister” stories in there (maybe it’s more just that they aren’t a popular subject rather than being somewhere else?) so it has me thinking maybe that type of story isn’t considered incestuous enough by the site to be include there.

If it helps to know this, there is a scene where the two sisters “share” a man unrelated to them, but the sisterly romance is definitely the main storyline.

Yeah, FMF is generally not going to be popular in Lesbian.

Incest is the main thrust (so to speak). People who read I/T will be fine with lesbian, but people who read Lesbian might object to the incest. I'd put it in I/T, but you might also just put a disclaimer at the front of the story, explaining that the main relationship is between sisters, let people judge for themselves.

Thanks all.

The point about including a FMF scene is wise counsel. I think I’d rather it be a slightly unpopular theme in the correct category (I/T) than one that flat-out pisses off readers who want all-girl stuff.

The disclaimer at the start is a good idea; I think letting people know what to expect will be a good way to head off people who might be expecting something it doesn’t deliver because of the category it’s in (i.e. no big family gang-bang conclusion).

It’s a long way off written, it’s just something I’ve had on the back burner for a while and did a bit more to today, and got to thinking, where would I even post this? I don’t normally write I/T (one fairly vanilla daddy/daughter story way back when is my only effort in that category) so your advice is appreciated.

It sounds like you made your decision, and I agree. Just to reinforce it tho, in my one attempt at a Lesbian story, I got some hate because the two women discussed giving blowjobs. There was no actual blowjob in the story, the two characters just had a conversation and talked about why one did not like giving head. This was too much for at least one commenter who really let me have it.

Shortly after the comment appeared, the category of the story was changed to EC, and I had to petition to have it changed back. I suspect my disgruntled commenter reported the story as being in the wrong category. It may be a small segment of the readership, but at least some Lesbian readers do not even want to be reminded that penises exist.

I think I/T is your best fit.

I've written two full-sister lesbian stories, submitted them to I/T, and had them accepted with zero blowback from the category trolls. PacoFear got a full-sister lesbian story into Sci-Fi/Fantasy, but the circumstances involved one of the character's ability to manipulate time so it still fit.

From what I've gathered in my time here, "Lesbian Sex" is short for, "Women only, no guys, and no familial relationship between people getting it on." You could PROBABLY squeeze something incest-y in there if, for instance, your protagonist set out to seduce and sleep with two girls who happen to be sisters and they wind up in a three-way, but you very well may draw some heat even with a scenario like that. Stick to I/T, and you should be fine. :)

The Management decides on category anyhow. Authors make suggestions, and they are usually accepted, but not always. The story you are describing would almost certainly be placed in Incest.

And remember to make sure the sisters are both at least 18 years old.

This isn’t my first rodeo.

And if your implication is that an author writing a sister/sister story would need specifically reminding to make the characters adults, well, I might have to take issue with some of your assumptions.

Your focus?

It could go either way, depending on which part you make more important. If they're two females and you focus on the relationship and dynamic between them as women, focusing specifically on how it's different without men, and they just happen to be sisters ... that could be lesbian.

If you focus on their sister-sister dynamic, it's going to be incest/taboo. Surprisingly, a number of people might not be turned on by them being sisters and may downvote or criticize you putting it in the wrong section.

I'd go Incest.
