A question on asking to edit a story's title

So, I had a story published, and now I regret the title I went with for it. The story is called "A Ballad of Light and Darkness" but I posted it with a different name because I couldn't write "A Ballad of Light and Darkness part 1." It was too long so I just went with "Hero of Light, Princess of Darkness" for the first part. Wish I went with "Ballad of Light and Darkness EP 1" but hindsight is 20/20. I know to ask for an edit is to post the name of the story followed by "EDIT" but can I do the same for asking for the site to edit the actual title of the story post itself? Am I screwed?

Good news: you can do it.

Bad news: it will probably take awhile. Story changes / edits get least priority.

Is it worth it? That's up to you I suppose.

You shouldn't have a problem if you clearly explain what the change is in the Notes column of the resubmit.

I did this when I wrote a second chapter to one of my stories.

Changed the title and category. It went through no problem.

One note is that the post date will change, so when it is updated, toss a comment in stating that you changed the title. You'll get comments wondering why a brand new story already has a ton of views and ratings if you don't.

Alright, good to know. I'll get to it. thanks for the help guys :D

It took Lit six days to change the category which I had made a mistake on. That's pretty fast for them. However, readers start to move on rather quickly. Only two voted on it because I assume they were confused. It's more for your own satisfaction of getting it right than the impact it will have scores and such.

True, but if I send out part two, then I'd have to make it called something else instead of "Ballad of Light EP2" cuz there's no story called EP 1. Or I could just keep coming up with different names for each part, and keep it all serialized as one, but... labeling them in number and the actual name of the whole story sounds more organized. Maybe.

Patience will be the long virtue. Sort out the first chapter title, ending with Ch.01; then s submit same title Ch.02 Ch.03. If you try to be too clever, chances are you'll cock it up and confuse readers. KISS principle applies!

How do I edit my story title?
You resubmit the entire story with the old title plus the word EDIT.

In the Notes to the Editor, provide your new title.

Doing it this way should keep all your scores and comments - it might not (usually, people are just fiddling with chapter numbers, not renaming the whole thing).

Edits are low priority. Be prepared to wait at least a week, probably a lot longer.
