A question for you wonderful editors

I am writing a story for a woman from Austrailia about a party on Austrailia Day.

My problem is that I'm an American who has never been down under. My only source of information about that great nation comes either from the internet or from American media. So here is the hard part. On the internet I can't get a good feel for how people talk in everyday conversation or any real nuances or different taboo's that may have evolved in Austrailia over the years.

On American media, well, all I can really do is watch Paul Hogan movies or watch "The Crocodile Hunter." Neither gives me what I really want.

Is there a good editor that can help me with this? I feel like I need someone who has first hand experience with Austrailian culture.

Thanks in advance, and if this is not the right forum for this question then please accept my appologies.

Well I'm not an editor here but that doesn't seem like a question that needs an editor's particular skills. Besides, what are the odds that one of them is Australian too? I bet if you started a thread on the general board "HELP ON AUSSIE SLANG" or something you'd get a lot more examples from actual Australians pretty quickly.

You aren't going to get any better than my offer I think...

I am australian henceforth I'd hope I'd speak Australian... either send me american slang to 'convert' to Australian...
Or send me the finished product the way you have written it and I'll try and edit OZ into it...

Anyone with a better idea please help the poor bugger
