A Project?.... a sexy project

Okay i had this idea...actually, we probably all had THIS idea, but the other one...anyway moving on

The story is this:
A billionare buys a big island and establishes a community for the "sexually liberated". Everyone is screened before they can enter, and about 1,000 or so people live and work on this island. Since everyone is tested and sexually liberated, there are no std's and so it turns into well....a "party", you could imagine. so anyway we have this community of people that do all sorts of crazy things...now here is where the real idea comes in since ^^^^ that is a common fantasy....i would think...

okay so someone (i.e. ME) writes the story about the billionaire creating the island and establishing how everything works, and the environment, the kinds of people and so on and so forth. Then anybody....Anybody can write a story in which they create characters and put them in this island community.. so a bunch of people maybe write 1 story, or maybe like a few parts about their characters...Okay so then everytime someone writes a story in this "island" universe, its indexed and all the charcters they create go into a centralized list, including their attributes, physical and personality, and it lists what stories the character appears in and who wrote them... Then anybody else writing a story for this series/universe can look at the list and pick some characters to make appearences in their stories...so the end result is a whole bunch of people writing a whole bunch of interconnected stories involving some common characters...

okay so, first off, Does this sound like a good idea?
2. If this is done would you actually participate and write a story/stories for this type of thing
3. Does this sound like it would work, would people want to read this
4. do you like the overall story idea
5. comments suggestion....flames, trolls, whatever, let me have it

We had a lot of fun with the idea, but I can't say that I'd be interested in writing for it in a chain story fashion, nor would I be particularly interested in reading stories of the like.

It was fun here because the posters in this forum, a fairly tight-knit bunch, were volunteering services in which they excelled, as well as volunteering friends with certain *ahem* abilities. It was fun in a disjointed sort of Sexual Role Play way, but I'm not sure how it'd fare as a catalyst to generate stories at random. Perhaps it's all a little too fantasy for me. I like my stories entirely fantasy based or mostly reality based. Just my personal 'druthers.

Good luck with the idea, though. Perhaps it would do well as a stand alone story, written by you.

well im too busy to really make a very long story about that...and the real premise is that there are a ton of stories about many many characters rather than several stories following one or two characters...

I quite enjoy the idea of shared world fantasies, but I think that what would make me a little leery of this endeavour, other than the fact that I need to finish a few stories that have nothing to do with that setting, is that the premise might be a little too limiting. That is, if there is one billionaire who runs the island, and it's a self-contained community, it sounds like it would a bit difficult to be entirely plausible without creating unhelpful limitations. For example, if the billionaire has a fetish for leather, then there's a logical uniform on the island, or if she's female and lesbian, then we're unlikely to see any men. If, on the other hand, the billionaire has no established tastes, then it's a little hard to give the place a real "feel" or character. I've enjoyed a number of "billionaire island" stories, but must of them specifically because the wealth and power of the leader allowed him/her to create a mini-world in which things worked quite differently and where specific bizarre and kinky tastes were catered to. The ability of the billionaire in question to create a fantastic setting is a large part of the appeal. That can be a great deal of fun, but in some ways getting specific enough to be interesting might preclude being broad enough to be inclusive.

Hmmm. What if you framed it a little differently? What if you made it a challenge - start with an island, a billionaire, and a pool of screened party-goers, and each author comes up with his/her own best version of what could happen? Then people could make their own alternate versions of who the billionaire is and what his focus happens to be, and yet there would be a connecting theme. Make it a sort of "Never-Never Island Story Challenge." That could be a lot of fun; we'd get to see all sorts of people's ideas of the "ideal fantasy island world."

well its not like its a billionaire constructing a world around his fantasy all to his taste...Its a billionaire that uses wealth to establish a community that is feasible where people can choose to move to and then work there ( i guess with the internet you can work from anywhere). The billionaire holds no power over anyone except that he is more like an elected mayor that helps make some decisions. Its like a small town in a tropical setting in which the worries of std's and becoming socially outcast by "deviant" lifestyles are all gone, as everyone that comes to live here is liberated. So it isnt catering to anyone fetish, but rather its like a free world in which smaller communities for fetishes could construct themselves. So if a bunch of people that move there decide to start an S&M club they can, or just swingers or whatever. I imagine that many of the people would be nudists and then it would become socially acceptable to go nude, and since no "normal" social order exists noone is afraid of going nude or commiting to other sexual lifestyles. It would have no form until several writers gave it a personality through characters.
