A primer for dopes that don't understand the "Defund the Police" slogan

The $$ has gone to more guns, officers and cells rather than to essential mental health and social services. .

No. There has been no correlative movement of money towards guns, officers, and cells. The funding for social services is handled differently across the country and there are many reasons for the cuts. It hasn't been to buy more guns.

You might not realize it since you have no need to pay taxes and no skin in the game but government budgets have multiple competing forces for the money including salaries, infrastructure, education, etc.

I love watching The Andy Griffith show on TVland. I loved that Sheriff Taylor knew everyone’s first name and everyone called him by his. That version of this country seems to be gone now. We have militarized police on one side and militarized criminals on the other. I remember roughly 6 months ago a friend of mine was abducted. The police didn’t do much, the people who abducted her did quite a bit. When it comes down to it, no one on here expressing an opinion cares about the lives of actual people. We are just trapped in the middle worried that one group won’t help us while the other won’t let us live our lives. We are on our own in a world where things are becoming increasingly every person for themselves. I’m not trying to upset anyone. I just want to say, whether I die from a bullet fired by a police officer or a brick thrown by a member of antifa, neither side is doing anyone any favors, and whether I am seen as a martyr, a villain or forgotten completely will be completely decided by an angry irrational mob that never spoke for me. As I see the world consumed by hate, I must confess, part of me hopes that happens sooner than later.

You seem nice, you should move to Canada.

Does this mean that when the same tax-and-spend Democrats claim that they must raise taxes to fund police, <firemen, and teachers> that they intend to not fund them?

You dopes make up a phrase then call people who question the wisdom of what the phrase would lead to "dopes" and redefine words rather than admit it was an untenable idea.

You dopes need to explain that defund police doesn't actually mean defund the police to the dopes screeching in the streets and holding the defund the police signs because they seem to be of the impression that it actually means defund the police.

A Day late and a Dollar short....

Here's another "dope" for BoreNextDoor to enlighten:

“The Minneapolis Police Department is rotten to the root and so when we dismantle it, we get rid of that cancer and we allow for something beautiful to rise,” -Ilhan Omar

In the alternative, start a thread to explain to us 'dopes' that foolishly take words at face value for their actual, denoted meanings that "dismantle" does not mean to systematically and entirely take apart thereby rendering something inoperative.

I was driving by the county jail and stopped in to see guys suspected of felony domestic battery, child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and rape.
They were in favor of defunding the police too!
You're not alone, BND, in your drive to make Blue States even more unsafe.

Coz taking one dollah from gold-plated police budgets will result in anarchy, sedition, and the forceable taking of white women, amirite?

Since the bulk of police budgets and the crippling pension obligations "negotiated" between the PBA supported, big, blue city Democrats and the PBA were paid for out of taxes raised to pay "police, fire, and teachers" have the Democrats decided how much of a tax cut will be appropriate to go along with defunding the police to whatever extent they do?

I see there's another illiterate here who doesn't understand the difference between "one dollar" and "defund."

But, but, "defund" doesn't actually mean defund, it means dismantle, pull up the cancer by the roots and entirely get rid of it.

They still plan to spend the money.

Just not on law enforcement.

Ali called it "Rope-a-Dope."

So police budgets are still sacrosanct, in your opinion?

My point, which you obviously did not get, mostly like because your mother and father are, coincidentally, brother and sister, is that America does not need a militarized police force.

American priorities today have doctors fashioning facemasks out of garbage bags while military-wannabee cops prance around with rocket launchers and sonic cannons.

Budget spending on police "hardware" is minuscule compared to funding pension programs. Your argumentative skills are really on the decline since the last wave of TIAs. :)

People aren't getting physically assaulted by pension plans.

From a marketing standpoint - any slogan that you have to explain isn't a good slogan. If your audience goes "wait, what does that mean?" you missed the mark.

They did miss the mark on this one,
but originality is not their long suit
because it is a reworked slogan
last used against ICE...

;) ;)

Notice how the Democrat leadership is starting to run away from the defund/dismantle narrative. Now they're scrambling to parse words and intentions after realizing how far from sanity their children had wandered in their illusions about being anointed to remake the World as its only inhabitants.

:D

They support the police, but not the union...

This is what happens with comfortably compartmentalized conflicting concepts.
I know what happens when you suggest any other public-sector union be banned...

Howls of outrage and angst over all the good unions do
(in supporting Democrat candidates).

There was a move to upgrade firepower and personal body armor
after these idiots in California armed up, layered up and went
on a robbery(?) rampage...

It's in the back of my mind,
I don't remember all of the details.

I rather suspect that this will call for a tax increase
once the police are no longer the Swiss Army Knife
of community social services...

;) ;)

I posted the names earlier in the thread, “high incident bank robbers” if you want to look it up.

Thanks.

It was just something roaming around in my thoughts,
what with the firepower of the criminals and drug cartels,
we could no longer send Barney Fife into a situation and expect
efficacious action to protect both citizens and undocumented citizens...

In that particular situation the police went to a local gun store and commandeered AR15’s and ammunition, as shotgun and pistol rounds were totally ineffective. Estimates vary but it’s said between 1500-2000 rounds of ammunition were fired in that incident.

Barney Fife would have been screwed.
