Hi everyone I found this prayer today and thought it would be something to share with you. I hope that you all will take the time to read the prayer and tell others about it. The more people that see it, the more prayers will be said for our troops. May God bring them home safe and sound.

Please feel free to post your feelings and thoughts on this or anything else involving the conflict in Iraq.

Thanks, Elizabeth

God, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts
they perform for us in our time of need.
Amen

I hope everyone keeps the faith and will keep supporting our troops, Nice prayer.

Lord, please watch over all the soldiers that have gone into battle.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear

It's a great prayerDreamguy, and a reminder that all who have gone to the gulf are men.

Thanks also for including all soldiers, and not just those of one particular country. They're all fighting against the one evil menace.

Sorry Dreamguy, but since this is the first time I have seen one of your posts, I hadn't noticed the prayer you have in your sig line. Its very nice and I hope that it helps.

The universal soldier's prayer...

The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green Pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake,

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

It's hard for me to imagine that there are those who would NOT be thinking of our troops on a daily basis. God Bless them all.

From an old soul......

A SOLDIER'S PRAYER (1944)

God of our Father, who by land and sea has ever

Led us on to victory, please continue your inspiring

Guidance in this greatest of our conflicts.

Strengthen my soul so that the weakening instinct of

Self preservation, which besets all of us in battle,

Shall not blind me to my duty to my own manhood, to the

Glory of my calling, and to my responsibility to my

Fellow soldiers.

Grant to our Armed Forces that disciplined valor and

Mutual confidence which insures success in war.

Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting,

But rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived.

If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor

In a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the

Enemy, and please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I

Shall leave behind.

Give us victory, Lord.

Gen. George Patton :rose:

Lost Cause, thanks for your great contributions. They are both very much appreciated especially The Lord's Prayer, one that is said I'm sure a few million times a day if not more.

I think you meant the 23rd Psalm. That's the verse that Lost Cause contributed. It is a family favorite and used quite often at funerals.

The Lord's Prayer starts out "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name..." It's still a good prayer for any occasion though.

Some news groups.......

Interviewed soldiers that finished prayer services before A- Hour, and almost all we're praying for the strength to not let their buddies down, or get someone killed.
Very few mentioned any prayer for themselves, some things never change.
That's why military service is one of the best examples of selfless duty.

You are completely right Cheyenne, and I apologize for the mix up. Both are wonderful and I'm sure are said often by our men over there and here as well.
