Beyond cool. Where/what is that?

So it appears as though baseball parks have had a longer and further-flung history than we ever imagined.

Nothing makes an offhand wisecrack sound weaker than having to repeat it.

Breathtaking

Summ, I gasped. Don't do that often with photos not of Venice. So very glad you caught it and posted.

Gorgeous pic!

And, I'm completely green with jealousy...

Spiš / Zips castle in northeastern Slovakia, the historical center of the region, fortified to the current extent in the early 15th century. Never conquered (obviously)... hold on, I'll post an article on it...

(note that the article is written in central european English with all the grammatical inconsistencies that entails)

We got to the castle at 17:20 and managed to miss the last entry, so we stayed at a nearby motel and got in as soon as they opened the gates. The whole castle also had another thing going for it - it was full of some kind of ground squirrels. They looked sort of like the looney tunes chipmunks, same black/white tails and white spots on their backs. Unfortunately, I didn't have a decent lens to capture them.

(at this point, let me state that I will gladly accept $$$ to help me acquire a camera with more than 1.3 megapixels and certain manual features - like manual focus and a bayonet fitting for different lenses :D)

Before the storm in Brno. Not a particularly stunning vista in and of itself, even the concert being organized promised little in particular, but the last rays of the sun striking and highlighting the main square... that was great. Got the camera wet for this photo, but no harm done fortunately.

Summ, you have what is more important than megapixellated cameras. You have a perceptive eye. That's evident in only the two photos here. The symmetry of the Auschwitz shot is chilling.

Ah, if only I could help support all my artist friends.

best, Perdita

Fabulous Photos....I love seeing other parts of the world through the eyes of others.
thanks:rose:

Cachtice castle - home and later prison of the infamous Elisabeth Bathory, pilgrimage site of numerous metalheads, and also a picturesque ruin.

Great pic, but I'm showing my ignorance when I say I haven't ever heard of Elisabeth Bathory - who was she?

This one just made me smile...

(it's an elevator by the way, and I only used it once. Then I chose the stairs)

She would bathe in the blood of virgins, so you're safe to go there.

Alžbeta Batori - the White Lady - famed for her milk white skin, wanted to keep her youth and beauty and attempted to do just that by bathing in the blood of virgins. About 300 all told.
