A Peregrinator Thread.

Wait...who is Richard Mercer?

Richard Mercer AKA "The Love Doctor" hosts Love Song Dedications on Mix 106.5 FM.

Here he is! :D

Sometimes it's REALLY funny.

From 8pm to midnight Sunday to Thursday, Richard’s baritone words are on hand to sooth the anxious bogan in the form of his successful radio show “Love Song Dedications”. How was the bogan to know that cheating on its boyfriend with its boyfriend’s brother was going to jeopardise its relationship? All the bogan knows is that it wants everything back to normal, and that Richard is the central plank in this restorative process. All the bogan needs to do is call Richard, wail disjointedly on the radio for 20 seconds, and then Richard will unveil his chocolatey tones to announce that everything in the real world will turn out just fine. This modern day version of a church confessional comes with the added bogan broadcast bonus of airing its dirty laundry to a wider audience than is possible at the pub.

After being informed by Richard that “it sounds like you really do care for him”, the bogan agrees blubberingly and awaits the first bars of “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” by Michael Bolton. It knows that its penance has been served, and that it is only a matter of time before the estranged lover comes scuttling back into its lecherous arms. It does not occur to the bogan that there is an infinitesimally small chance that the intended recipient is actually listening to the show, and that it’s far more likely that they’re out on the prowl for someone who isn’t idiotic enough to think that Richard Mercer’s velvet coated dungeon is a valuable diplomatic instrument.

Meanwhile, Richard ploughs on; his unbreakable job security underpinned by the tens of thousands of bogans whose decision-making skills make them ticking time bombs for desperate love song dedications down the track. Dubbed the “Love God” by listeners and the Mix FM network of broadcasters, this luckless deity is consigned to a weekly 20 hour dosage of bogan hell for all eternity.

Bump, because we need more threads like this around here lately.

What made you smile recently?

Two things: first - when i was swimming and the swim team kids in the other lanes had to struggle to keep up with their old, old teacher - the looks after were priceless! Second - i'm a very high heel shoe lover except in the classroom - then it's the silliest tennis shoes possible. I just love when the little ones think my shoes are cool. Silly i know but it makes me giggle!😊 And i agree - we all need to take time to enjoy things so thanks!

Golf lesson, club fitting, practice. Been playing off and on for years but just as an excuse to get drunk outdoors. Now I'm getting serious. My first ever lesson and it turns out I'm not so far off. A small change in grip and better fitting clubs and it was ON! Building a custom set now from a small company. Very excited, a lightbulb definitely lit up.

Whadup witchu, Pererg?

Both excellent. I love when the kids can't keep up with me doing something. There's a kind of ageist schadenfreude in there somewhere. And man, was I ever cool with my Timberlands back when hip hop artists started wearing them.

I want you to play Vat! What a trip that would be to read about.

Nothing too exciting here. Father in law is out of town, so Lady P is staying with her mom (a hundred yards down the street), and when I went over for dinner, discovered one of her yoga teacher colleagues and husband there. Was expecting kind of a typical evening, wound up having some great conversation with people actually younger than us for a change. Sometimes it seems like three quarters of this town are older than dirt. Anyway, kinda like new friends out of the blue. And they both want to learn how to climb, no less. Oh, and even further, husband guy is coming to sword class with me tomorrow. Left for home with a smile.

I was in a blade store (knives, swords, axes, chisels, planes, etc) in Sapporo last Friday and thought, "Damn, Perg would like this place".

I love that you thought of me. Sharp stuff! If I bring any more weapons into this house...

Manipulate herself into buying you another.

Youch! What you must think of me. She is among the most stubborn creatures I know.

I actually have three, no wait, four swords on the way, two sharpening jobs by friends, one a custom build, one a museum quality replica, and one a new blade for a favorite production hilt. Uh, i guess that's five then.

Maybe I should start a swords thread.

What made you smile today?

Today was a rough day. Dealing with financials, lawyers, etc. Very little in the way of fun for an engineer. I took a little time off and chatted with my crew and told them that they were doing a great job. Smiles were exchanged.

Then, of course, I smiled when I got a hug when I came home.

An excellent way to start the end of a crap day. Nothing like a little bit of dopamine and the security of a relationship.

Hi :) hope you don't mind me chatting here..? Your av is so cool! Have you really been wearing that wool bathrobe Jedi hood coat for 5 years?

No sweat. Perg threads tend to be anarchistic.

Lulz. No. I don't remember where this picture came from. I hardly wear that coat thing at all any more. It does look kinda cool hanging on a hook with my bow and arrows, though. Sort of Rangers Of Ithilien.

Anything worth smiling at for you today?

Oh, thanks for the reply, Perg... :) Yeah that coat does sound cool, or rather your description of it.

Hmm nothing much to smile yet, day just started and I'm feeling under the weather.

It's one of these things I love but hardly ever use. It's too heavy and bulky to carry around much.

Oh, suck! I hope you feel better as the day continues.
