I was inspired by Writer's thread for Etiole (congrats) and by Professor's success to start this. I realized many of us are probably getting through school or maybe just tough projects at work, so I decided to let everybody get their chance in the spotlight and make a thread for people to post good news whether in school, work, or anywhere you did something exceptional. you can mention other people's accomplishments since I know there are a few modest people out there so to being I want to say congrats to Professor for her 3.9 GPA! (fuck yeah)

sounds good to me...

Sounds good to me...I'm waiting to see if I get into nursing school... so hopefully soon I'll get to post some exciting news too!

Wow 3.9 that is better than me! I have a 3.7 GPA because of one stupid teacher who admitted she graded me down because she didn't like me. I like this idea for a thread!

There's someone I want to praise for her phenomenal grades (3 A's, and 3 A-'s) but she may not want that sort of info published openly.

You know who you are, and, damn, you kicked ass!

(If she is okay with it, I'll edit the post)

Can I ask how are grades worked out in the USA? What does GPA stand for? I'm assuming this isn't a percentage!

American GPA is generally a four point scale, with an A representing the top mark and corresponding to a four. B's are next at three, then C's at two, and D's at one. Anything less, usual E or F, is a zero. Some schools weigh scores for plusses and minuses on those grades (A-, B+, etc to indicate tening towards the very top or bottom of that grade range), and some schools award higher points per grade for very difficult courses.

In short, at 3.9 is very, very good.

3.9 is freaking excellent! I'm proud of my 3.7 because I've never done so well in my life. But 3.9, wow!

Thank you Homburg. I was happy that Etoile had got good grades because another thread by Writerdom said that she got pretty much straight As and that I understand. The GPA thing confused me a bit and I've also heard it in myriad Hollywood films over the years, without having a clue what it means. 3.9 seemed a strange figure to arrive at for a set of results that were originally graded with letters. Thank you for explaining.
