I read in a couple of threads now that people seem to be blaming the Palestinians for the attacks. I would just like to point out that I it is most unlikely that the Palestinians carried out the attack. The Palestinian radical organisations like Hamas and Hizbollah are interesting in fighting on Israeli-Palestinian grounds. An attack that big and logistically planned would have demanded a great deal of resources (monetary and human) and that would have meant cutting down on the Anti-Israeli force.
On the people you saw cheering on the roads:
The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are the worlds biggest prison. The people there, the Palestinians, are not allowed to leave the area at around 200 days of the year, they are shot for trying to get into Israel and find work, they are without a passport and citizenship, they have no fresh water supplies and are not allowed to dig for water. Most of them live in slums or refugee camps at Israeli "mercy". Now, Israel receives around $16 per week on foreign aid from the States alone.
If you were Palestinian and suffer like that, wouldn't you feel a bit happy (as sick as it may sound coming from a Westener now) that the foe that is sponsering your enemy got attacked by someone who is possibly Islamic too?
I do not mean do defend this horrible by attack by any means whatsoever. I myself have one of my best friends in hospital right now being treated for severe burns and another one is still missing.
I would just like to say that not all Arabs are fundamentalist like Osama bin Laden or the Taliban Regime in Afghanistan and PLEASE for the sake of common sense and intelligence, do not throw all people of one origin into a single pot.
Thank you very much,
Andrea
