When Mitsuko stood and hurried from her room Xin was tempted to follow after her. To apologize, to explain, to... something, anything. Instead he stayed still, laying on the floor, propped on one elbow. This had never happened to him before. Not since he was a young man going through puberty had a woman captured his attentions. Even then it was quickly corrected. But Mitsuko was quite firmly in his head.
Xin retired to his quarters, assumed a lotus position, and began meditation. He needed council, guidance, to regain his harmony. He wrestled for what seemed an eternity, his burgeoning feelings, his duty, trying to reconcile the whole thing. Near dusk he found clarity. Wrestling with these emotions served no purpose, it only increased his confusion. He accepted them, that he cared for this girl, this perfect creature. As soon as he did so, he felt his harmony return. Most Eye's of Twilight didn't take companions, but that was because they didn't seek them out of fear for their personal harmony. Xin had found one, not sought it. There was nothing in the history that prohibited him from finding one, it simply hadn't been done often, if at all.
His inner peace returned he stood and left his quarters. Mitsuko was not far from him, and he knocked twice on the frame before sliding the door open and moving into her room.
