A 'new' unofficial Literotica Android App

I've been working on a decent Literotica Android app for over 2 years now, but I've never actually posted a link to it anywhere. Only a few people use it at the moment (including me) and I find that to be a shame after all the work I've put in.

You can find more info and a download link here: https://theilluminatus.github.io/litapp

Some features:

- Read stories, view authors, series, related stories...
- View your feed and custom lists
- Configurable reading modus (color, text size...)
- Advanced search (like on website)
- Explore categories (top & new)
- Automatically open the next story in a series
- Export Stories (to HTML), Lists and followed authors (both to JSON and Markdown)

Something to note: I've tried contacting the official Literotica team through the years but never gotten a comment on this endeavour.

It's probably because of your name. Besides, they have an app for ios already, and if they want one for Android, they'll develop their own, because fuck you.

There will be a limited number of people willing to load the app as it will never be in an official app store. Most phones will handle Literotica in a browser, so you would have to detail the advantages of your app and post a guide for installation. It would also be helpful if you ensured people you would update the app for compatibility with new iterations of operating systems as so many "sideloaded" apps accumulate bugs or outright break in a short period of time.

yall know lit has its own app?

and there is no way in hell i'd install an app from someone who did not get the rights to create it

Oh well it's quite sad to see all this negativity. A stark contrast with other places I've posted on.

True, but the official Android app isn't in the app store either soo. I will post a installation tutorial though and also add a mention of my (to be honest very basic update mechanism). Thanks for the ideas!

I can get behind that sentiment. I made the source open for a reason, but I am aware this definitly isn't a guarantee.
As for "Literotica already has it's own app": I used it for a long time, don't know if you do so, but it's not very good (unless they did huge update and didn't update the screenshots). This is why I decided to make my own with many extra features (tag searching, custom list support...).

Yeah, reported.

Perhaps that will trigger them to respond, I've tried asking them multiple times for (dis)approval and am willing to comply if necessary. I didn't post anything giving them the time to respond but after using it personally for years I decided people would be interested in this.

Likely because they've already built their own:

Lit does need to update the format though.

Like on a phone this place is just about useless.

I just sideloaded it on my phone. Seems to work ok, will see if itś better than the very old, unsopported and unlisted ¨official" android app.

The only reason for me to visit the forum is to check once every year+ to see if there is an updated android app. So I found this one. Txs a whole bunch for at least trying to do better than literotica. Will report back if I have something to report.

Hang around here long enough and you won't even trust yourself!

Ok, the app seems to work just fine.

One of the main reasons don't like the original app is that sometimes the bottom line is kinda missing a bit. This is most likely when you go from one (seb) page to the next. This new app let's you scroll down to the end of the page, and then swype horizontally to the next page.

Could you add the option to only display pages you can swype horizontally? basically like a normal epub reader does?

Txs for the app, it works fine as long as literotica servers work as well (apart from the downloaded stories.)

1.14 …
- Add AMOLED Black theme
- Cache lists between app starts
- Show progress when loading large lists
- Bugfixes & more UX Improvements

ThatĹ› the august 15 update

Txs for the Amoled update.. more time to read lit.. ;-)

The original plan was to do just that (only horizontal scrolling like epub), but after a while I decided against it. Some of those reasons were:
- Certain authors put a lot of effort into writing their stories so the sentences and paragraphs line up with the page. I didn't want to screw that up
- Manually written table of contents would also get confusing
- This allows you to switch to the normal site quickly without having to look for the original position.
- And lastly, this is way easier to implement. It would involve manually calculating the maximum amount of lines on a device and cutting the pages. I also couldn't find a example implementation, so I'd have to do it from scratch and I could already hear the bugs / edge cases coming from weird screen sizes and densities adding or clipping some of the story (exactly like the official app).

Yeah. sometimes the servers are just down (or updated their old apis). I use the app semi-daily, but sometimes I don't catch a change in their api immediatly which might cause the app to break. If you're still having problems after a few days, feel free to email me so I can look into fixing it!

Also, thanks for adding the changelog here as well. If you know your way around github, check my branches or TODO file for some possible upcoming features ;) .
