A New Era

C'mon buddies! Let's team together and get rid of the bad guys!!! We can do it!! I feel like I'm dealing with a child's club.

I am with you guys 100% and this might be the first time in Lit history we are going to pull together as a team. Brings a tear to my eye.

MEOW!

Laurel,
I am sorry. I went against my own clean track record of no Troll bashing, or even responding to them, for that matter, by posting "Ode to a Brown Moth" and my recipie for "Cream of Nut soup." I hope that they at least fall into the 'witty' catagory, as I was quite pleased with the poem. It was the only poem I have ever written that was serious, and I was trying to say what I feel there without mudslinging. Note that no trolls responded to it, though, so it must have been an untouchable truth. I don't know?

I hope you can overlook the ridiculous crap here and enjoy the rest of your vacation. As I see it, you are aware of how people who are too busy worrying about important or fun and good things in life, won't be insulted or worried by someone's tactless remarks, when it is obvious that the people who do that are the ones suffering the most.

We have to all promise to remind each other, nicely, but firmly, if anyone slips up. That'll help us all stay focused.

Enlightening qoute of the day.....

I'll happily join the club and promise to do my best to keep my posts clean of graffiti. ;)

Time for a moderator?

Any gardener knows if you leave things to nature, your garden becomes a jungle. The rampant and the pernicious take over.
If you want to look after your flowers, you have to do a bit of weeding now and again. Hack out the invasive. Uproot the creeping rhizomes. Compost the unwanted.
It let's a bit of sunlight and fresh air in.
Fertiliser is already taken care of. We're knee deep in it.

I know what you mean, but I'd rather leave the General forum unmoderated. The General forum has always been a self-policing entity, in which the posters decide what they will and won't tolerate and what direction they want the forum to take. I think that works well. The situation here is that we've all (myself included) allowed the forum to become something that's not as fun for us.

I'm not advocating censorship - I'm simply reminding all of us that WE make the forum what it is. WE have the power. Ignore topics you don't enjoy. Post on topics you do enjoy. If pig-fighting, negativity, and trolls bring you down, don't stoop to that level. If you dig pig-fighting, then wallow right in. But don't get involved in the negativity and then complain about it, because that only encourages the negativity. And don't leave. Stay and make the forum a better place - for you, for me, for everyone. Every community has its highs and lows. If everyone leaves during the lows, how can we ever achieve those highs?

For everyone's info: there's been fighting, name-calling, and trolling since this BB came online. Check the archives and you'll see what I mean. These days aren't as dark as the doomsayers will have you believe. However, the situation will worsen if we don't take responsibility for it. A few cool posts here, a few trolls ignored there, and we'll be back in the pink in no time.

. If the majority of us refuse to get involved in it - if we instead flood the BB with exciting, provocative, and witty mudslinging - we can end this. Right here and right now.

Woah exciting?
Provactive?
Witty? too

Dammit woman that would mean for people like me a full frontal lobatamy. And after Internet porn Bashers, I am not sure we could use a lit member with another one of those.(Does that count as provactive or witty? No dammit no I guess I have to try harder)

However I stand were I always stood as a loyal member of Literotica. After all someone has to be the skitzophrenic asshole and dammit I am your man

(personality #2: that is men you jackass. I refuse to mentioned as a part of you)

Well technically you are a part of me. You are my alterego remember

Personality #2: Oh yeah. Damn just damn

Attempting to dislodge Todd's erroneous ideas about evolution and creationism are still allowed under the new regime, right? Pyper's not here, I've been studying my law books all evening, and I wanted to take a spin in the hamster wheel. So that's okay, right?

Oh absolutely - go right ahead! ;)

I'm not saying we all have to "play nice". How boring would THAT be? ;) There's been some grumbling about negativity on the General forum, so I just wanted to remind everyone that each one of us has tremendous power, and with power comes responsibility. If one troll can disrupt the board, then one registered user can improve the board just as much - if not more so. If one catfight between users can bring it down, one awesome debate can bring it back up again. Take charge. This is YOUR place. Repaint, rearrange the furniture, tile the floors, set out a nice vase of tulips. Whatever you want this place to be, make it so.

Coming in behind you with an army of furniture movers carrying leather recliners built for two, several long sofas upholstered in luxuriously soft fabrics, assorted tables and laps... ummm, make that "lamps"... a pair of stout wooden stocks, a rack of wickedly interesting-looking floggers, restraints, and paddles..."

Ummm, mover guys? Want to take those last two items to my room. Yes, down the hall. Uh huh. Just keep going, it's at the end. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/happy/11zwinky.gif

LOL

Seriously, I'm all in favour of the points Laurel makes. Quite fitting that today is May Day [May Day! May Day!], so we can all try to make the board a better place.

Oh! The grand [...] lady of Lit
She had 20,000 members,
She asked them to march to the top of the hill
But they marched right down again!
And - when they were up, they were up
And - when they were down, they were down
But - when they were only half way up,
They were neither up or down!

Gravity (as in seriousness) is good, but let's not let too much 'gravity' get us down. Enjoy.

The Grand Lady of Lit, as in the woman who greets us all at the front door, has been named. The authors participating in the new Lit Chain Story entitled "The Memoirs of A Lady", a story about her exploits and adventures, have voted and her name is... trumpets please!... Erica (as in ERotICA)(i believe it was the always-clever KM who originated the name).

Therefore, the Grand Lady of Lit has a name, forevermore. Erica.

Siren gets stuck with the check!

Aw, fuck it! This is no fun!

I'm outta here. ;)

I feel like a freaking drama queen. Sheesh. MP, slap me please, I mean really.

Anyway, I considered myself part of the problem (still do) cause I'm straight mean. Debs might do her thing viciously, but she's altruistic and is doing it for good reasons. Me, I just like being bitchy.

I firmly believe that if you're not a part of the solution, you're part of the problem. I have been trolling around here, I trolled mistress, I trolled, um, I forgot, but I did it. I normally troll trolls and slugs, but I seem to have gotten rather bitchy.

My health, though not perfect, isn't an excuse, it doesn't matter, I did it anyway. My solution is to toodle off to other boards where I'm not as likely to indiscriminately smack at people who irritate me.

However, I've found the perfect solution. I can continue to post happily here and go to KR's and ipb's personal little board where they snicker at what they firmly believe is an accomplishment and troll there. :)

I may or may not post on this board, and if so, not often. I am not leaving Lit though, or the discussion boards. The GB isn't the only one there is.

I wanna be in the pink.

Oh was that a cool post????

Now some troll ignoring....

Oh yes Laurel I'm in but you already knew I was into you.

Mrs Nelson Mandela, that was a very good speech.

I'm with you too, sweetie!

I see those who are "leaving" as children. It's like the little kid who doesn't get their way and leaves in a huff. That's my opinion.

I will continue to try to make this an interesting place, without bickering or pointless criticism. (I said I will try. That doesn't mean that I am perfect, nor do I intend to be).

There is room enough here for many diverse opinions. There is no reason that differing opinions can't be accepted without name calling.
