A new beginning...

Vanquished

Mae.....welcome home !! :) It does me good to see your smiling face here again !!!

Wow....those pictures are just incredible....seems like you're getting better and better quality out of the Canon every time !! :)

As for the "Vanquished" statue....I would hazard a guess at it being the defeat and subsequent expulsion of Lucifer from heaven......I'm not biblical scholar but that's what it sort of brings to mind for me...poor Sherpa that I am :)

Hey Aaron.....LET MAE'S MUSE GO HOME !!! hehehehe

*hugs* to Mae !!!

Thank you pet :) I see you have been prolific in the time I have been away, and stunning as always *bow*

How sweet you are
How can one explain standing in history
I have done little traveling, but have spent some time in Russia, India and Nepal. I have breathtaking pictures that pale to the reality of looking at Mt. Everest, or sunrise on the Ganges, or standing in Red Square in front of Lenin's tomb watching a parade of hundreds of brides and grooms paying homage to Lenin(I was there in 1975). The pictures of Varnassi (on the sacred river) cannot capture the smells, the energy of color that is India. Pictures are a reminder, an appetizer for others to pique an appetite to travel and breathe in the diversity of experience on this planet.

The traveling bug is biting again...

Thank you, love

No worries intrigued :) Kind words should always be enjoyed, regardless of the source, and I thank you!

A final one, the first posting of my new ink. Actually, I wasn't going for that in the shot, but it showed up fairly well. I will get some better shots of it in the future to post. I got it in SDak about a week before I left. I try to get some done in every place I live. This piece will be expanded in the future, actually. My old Virgo design has several meanings, such as my sun sign and the Maiden aspect of the Goddess. My new piece has a stylized triskele in the center, representative of the Trinity of Maiden, Mother and Crone. I plan to have a crone design done on the matching spot on my right shoulder blade, and a mother representation done in the center, below the tendrils around the triskele. I was hoping at some point I could go back to the artist who did the center piece, but that is no longer possible.

Chris Ball worked at Black Hills Tattoo and Piercing in Rapid City, SD. He was killed last week while on his motorcycle, and was buried last Friday. He died doing something he truly loved, which few of us will be able to claim, and his work will keep him alive through many people. He was a great artist and a great person. Perhaps most people wouldn't understand the sense of loss, but the artist who works on something permanent on your body creates a bond which is always remembered. May he rest in peace, and may his family find peace in his absence.

It is good to be back Lit. I look forward to reaquainting with some of you, and making new aquaintances! there is much beauty here in spirit and body, which is what keeps people coming back! Time to go get ready for work now, the night shift calls :)

Umm...don't be suprised if I send you my shipping addy.:D I want those curtains, the bed, and that damn bustier!:D

NO WAY!! :) My landlady would be none too pleased about me sending away her curtains, and I would never part with my bed! I have quite a love affair with it, and I don't spend nearly enough time there, engaged in sleep or anything else fun! :)

But, the bustier I found at a Frederick's of Hollywood store, of all places! And it was on sale, yeah baby! Luck was shining upon me during that trip ;)

Thank you, we are of the same mind as to "beauty" and kind words. I just can't help but to take great pains with my words, as I never wish to offend anyone.
I really like the tatoo, it is so intricate and detailed, and very appealing. Excellent work, and thank you so much for sharing the story behind it. I can understand your pain and my thoughts are with you.
Isn't Lit the most beautiful experience? I have gained so much...friendships, food for thought, culture, and so much that I can't put into words. ;)
I have really enjoyed this thread.:)

Mae....the artwork, as is the subject, is truly beautiful.

Be well, my friend.

I thought that was your bed. I'm glad you were able to ship it with you. So many times a move such as your causes us to part with too many precious possesions.

Oh yes! I would have been devastated to part with my bed. I don't treasure matierial possessions often, but I have to admit I have a terribly soft spot for her, lol. The job moves all my stuff with me, which is why I was so slow getting back online as they didn't deliver it all until I had been here for quite a bit! I'm sure I will add a bit to the household collection during my time here. But NO cuckoo clocks! :) Next hopeful addition is a good baker's rack with an understore wine rack, yum!

I'm not sure quite who this is supposed to be, but I thought it was an awesome statue nonetheless. Perhaps someone can educate me? I'm assuming it's representative of some Biblical story, which would explain my ignorance :)

The standing angel wielding the sword would be the Archangel Michael. The defeated at his feet would be the defeated Archangel Lucifer. This would be a representation of the end of the first war of heaven, when Lucifer was defeated in his quest to usurp heaven by the host of loyal angels led by Michael. He was then subsequently cast out of heaven.

I'm such a geek. lol.

Oh my...you too?? I love watching HGTV, for both the decore and the gardening shows....drools...do you ever watch Paul James' show... "Gardening by the yard"?? He is a nut, but he knows his stuff.:)

Welcome back, Mae. Your pictures are as wonderful as ever. And your new tattoo work is gorgeous. I hope you will have time to share more of your beautiful visions with us.

:)

Hi Mae, just wanted to welcome you back even though we have not met. I've seen you mentioned around the threads and believe me, I don't think your spirit ever left. You have quite a lot of friends here.
You have made me very homesick for Germany. I lived there a few years and I keep telling my husband that we must return. The best thing about Germany is the people. We made so many friends there, and enjoyed many a village fest. Any advice I could possibly give is to visit the little tiny villages. It's amazing the treasures that can be found there. And you are right, when you see the bridges that indicate the foundation of these villages, you realize how very young our country is(the USA that is, not the land itself)
Anyway, please keep posting the lovely pics, I will enjoy them tremendously!!
And Intrigued?? I managed to bring my lace curtains home as well as many lace creations. Keep in touch with Mae, she will find these bargains and perhaps listen to your pleadings.;)

Really, huh??:D Thank you, I have such a weakness for lace curtains, well actually, for lace "anything".;) I'll be happy to keep in touch with Mae, she is a joy, and I am happy that you have your lace curtains.:)

Hmm Mae again your skill with the camera do stunn me. Both the pictures from the bedroom, and the ones from Frankfurt, even though I was there with you, I didn't really see those statues! lol

Oh and by the way, I've been looking through my pictures, and the castle was actually Burg Lichtenberg, which I think means something like castle light mountain.

*Warm Fuzzies*

Now, never leave like that again, ya hear!

Its so good to have you back! I anticipate more pics of the region. I remember Italy, spent a month there a few years back and was awestruck at the age and beauty of the architecture. I would love to travel to Germany as well. *pout*

As for the Parisian, I would have love to been slapped by you! Ahh, to sit next to dear Mae, under the looming Eiffel Tower.

Your selfportraits are so.....Tasteful, sexy, romantic, thoughtful, introspective.....I love the images you create. So many words come to mind.

Your a complex and beautiful person. I have waxed on enough.

I am so glad to be in your presence again.
